♡ VIDEO [001]
[The camera blips to life to show a blonde, bun-haired girl's beaming face. She appears to be in her bedroom, seating at her desk with her bed in the background. Her room is tidy and decorated with cute accents. A stuffed animal on her bed; a string of star-shaped lights hung on the wall; pale purple curtains on the window barely appearing in frame; any sort of touch she could bring to the room that made it feel less cookie-cutter. Government housing was pretty bland in appearance, she was clearly doing her best to make the room assigned to her feel like it was hers.]
So! Valentine's Day is coming up!
[She cocks her head a little, thoughtful.]
Back home, that's the day when girls would give chocolates to the boys they like or like-like... Then, on White Day, the boys are supposed to give gifts back in return!
[She's all smiles.]
But apparently here, it's all mashed into one day? I think that's really wonderful! No month long wait to see if the guy you like, likes you back! I mean, not that I've dealt with that personally... but I know people who have!
[She shakes her head a bit. Don't fumble! With a soft clap of her hands together, she looks directly into the camera with a bright smile.]
I just think this is all really sweet and I hope you all have a nice Valentine's day this weekend!
[[Note: her comm tag reads "Usagi Tsukino," no mention of Sailor Moon.]]

It's like… the holiday is what makes the chocolates or flowers or whatever gifts extra meaningful! It's not just the gifts on their own. Not to say any gift is less meaningful on another day of the year!
[Usagi paused a moment, collecting her thoughts. She twirled a longer strand of hair around her finger absent-mindedly, a slight frown on her face.]
Maybe it's more complicated to explain than I thought...

Still, it's weird to just pick some random day to just give people stuff. Isn't Snoggletog enough for that?
[Snoggletog = Viking Christmas.]

I'm so sorry you're separated from you're girlfriend!! That's so sad!
[But at that word… she hesitates. Upon arriving here she had suddenly been able to perfectly understand, speak, and write English. But that… that was not English.]
Um…?
[ooc: What an amazing name haha!]

Snoggletog. It's this thing at the end of every year where we decorate the village and exchange a few gifts here and there. I'm guessing you ... don't have that.

[Her eyes light up as he describes what that holiday is.]
Decorations and gifts? We have something like that: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! In America it's based on religious stuff, but back home in Japan it's more about spreading happiness! There are pretty lights ad decorations everywhere and we give each other gifts! Christmas Day is more for kids and Christmas Eve is a romantic time for couples!
… Christmas Eve is actually a lot like this Valentine's Day now that I think about it!

So you do have multiple holidays that are pretty much just about the same thing? I mean, sure, if you're up for it. But isn't it kind of repetitive?

Hm… well aren't most holidays about celebrating with loved ones?

I mean, a lot of our holidays deal with honoring the gods so more of the focus is on that, usually giving gifts to them.
