So... I guess it's been a while since I posted here. Hi.

I just thought I'd... get in touch with everyone. It's been kind of crazy lately, so I wanted to make sure everyone was okay.

[There's an audible mew from somewhere offscreen and suddenly the frame is knocked sideways, then flat, pointing up at the ceiling. A kitten peers into it, and Riku sighs quietly, reaching over to gather the little black cat to him and, with the other hand, readjust the feed.]

Oh. Um, this is Atoli, formerly known as Nevermore. I got her from the Pines. She's pretty cute.

[He looks thoughtful for a moment, then nods.]

I've also decided to start holding swimming lessons for imPorts, so if you're interested, I'll be holding sessions at the Nonah training facility's pool. They're free, so if you can't swim, you can send me a message.

Oh, a cat from the twins? Did you get her at their block party? And uh, I think I might be interested in the swim lessons... I can swim, but not so much that I can say I swim well.

No, I got her when their uncle posted on the network about them a couple of weeks ago. But yeah, if you're interested, I'll be like... making a schedule, and stuff.

Oh, right, that post. That's good though. Those cats need a home...

You think you'll have a lot of students?

Uh... I'm not sure, to be honest. Most people are just commenting on the cat.

That's kind of understandable. People like animals. But it'll probably be easier than having dozens of people asking.

Haha. That's true. What about you? Cat, or lessons? Or both?

[amadaman]

Mostly the lesson. Partially the cat. I figured I'd ask since I had a guess that she was produced via sneezing.

[resipiscent]

She was, yeah. Which... kinda freaks me out a little, but she seems perfectly normal, so I'm not judging.

[amadaman]

Cats are cats. I don't think anything from those two could be that scary.

[resipiscent]

No, you're right. Just... weird? I guess?

Yeah, it's pretty weird. I'm just relieved they're not snotty.

[Riku takes it literally, and laughs.] That's such a gross image.

[amadaman]

I hope they just magically appear. That's such a horrible way to be born. Way worse than some of those Greek stories.

[resipiscent]

... You think we should ask him to demonstrate? Also, I'm not sure that's true. What about the one where the guy eats his children? [Riku's starting to learn this stuff through Minato.]

No, I don't want to know.

Are you talking about the story about Kronos? That one's pretty disgusting, too, but there's Athena who's said to have been born tearing through her father's skull.

That one doesn't seem as weird to me for some reason?

[amadaman]

Well, it's mythology, I guess.

A father killing his children to protect his own position of power shows up a lot in history, though.

[resipiscent]

I guess it would. It makes sense to... feel like you want to be in your position forever. I'd... want to hang on too. But to kill your children for it just seems like... too much for me?

[amadaman]

Then that means you have a set of morals that differs from that of those civilizations. In the past, families in Japan used to marry their kids off to other families as hostages.

Also weird to me. But I guess you're right. It just comes down to societal differences.

[amadaman]

That's usually the case. Especially for a world like this, for a situation like ours, I think it's important to stop considering things 'weird' and see them as 'unfamiliar' or 'different.' Everybody experiences things differently.

[resipiscent]

Yeah, you're right. And I guess that's what I meant, but your wording is better than mine. I mean, even with me, there have been certain things that are so different for other people here, it's unbelievable.

[amadaman]

Yeah.

Nobody's the same. Even in the same world, there's a different view of something for every person who sees it, and we have to value all that.

[resipiscent]

Yeah.

That's kind of... cool, actually. I mean, rationally I know that everyone is their own person, but really thinking about it is kind of mindblowing, isn't it?

[amadaman]

Yeah... yeah, I think so. It's easier to think "they're all the same."
