Hypothetically speaking, how old does someone have to be to apply for college, or to take classes at a university? Is there a minimum age, or does it depend on whether or not you understand the material?

I'm not sure how different the laws and policies might be here, but in the version of America I come from, it is possible for minors to go to college. Special arrangements might need to be made depending on your age and situation.

There usually is. Or they might want to see your transcripts. Depends how picky the school is, plus the whole imPort thing makes it a little less by the book.

It would have to be; I'm not sure if any imPorts have their transcripts on hand when they come here. Or how we'd prove our educational history to begin with...

Mostly the classes. I could be ported back home at any time, so there's no way to know if I'll be here long enough to pursue a degree!

That definitely shouldn't be a problem, then. They won't give a crap so long as you're paying and not expecting credit. Even more so if you take online courses.

I didn't realize that was an option, but I'm not sure I'd want to sit in front of a computer all day!

If you understand pre-requisites and have demonstrated that through other classes, there shouldn't be a reason why you can't apply.

I don't think there's a set minimum age. You have to be qualified though. If you haven't finished high school, you might need a G.E.D.

Hmm, ok... that's a pretty logical first step, I guess.

I looked into a g.e.d. when I first got here. It didn't seem too hard, as long as you're willing to do the work. I think a lot of universities would want import students.

Generally college freshmen are around 18-19 at the youngest, but I've seen way younger and way older than that. In my world it can be a little bit complicated if you're still in high school or even elementary, you'd need to have a special arrangement made and possibly a GED, but there's not really a minimum age.

You would have to prove that not only do you understand the material, you can handle that and elementary or high school, if you're just taking classes at a university on top of your regular school schedule.

I don't have a regular school schedule, so that second part shouldn't be a problem, but I can look into the GED!

It's not exactly commonplace, but yeah, elementary school students have done it before. Like I said, there's no minimum age to get into college.

I do know that, depending on the state, the GED might have age requirements, but considering you're an imPort you might be able to get a special arrangement instead.

I think you can take some tests? It's been a while since I've been to school so I'm giving high school a shot first--but I am taking some college-level courses since my school has programs for it.

Not a lot of school advertise these kinds of classes. I mean, you have to have pretty decent grades to be able to manage those courses, right?

Honestly, I think if you just wanted to take the classes, all you have to do is pay. Getting in would be a different story though.

How much do the courses cost, generally speaking? I've been here for a little over a year, and I haven't spent much money apart from basic stuff like groceries and books, so I have some saved up!

Some things I read said you'd need guardians to sign forms. I don't know if it would be different for imPorts.

I think it'd have to be different for imPorts, considering that most of us end up here without any guardians. It's not like they assign us any, after all!

Maybe they only need that if you're IN the university, not if you just want to take classes?
