[The video feed presents an older british gentleman at his desk, surrounded by stacks of history books. He looks up into the camera and smiles warmly.]
Good evening, my name is Walter Strickler. I'm a new arrival here, and I thought it best that I introduce myself. More than that, actually, I was hoping to ask a question.
I am in the midst of familiarizing myself with the history of this world, and how it differs from my own... Most of the discrepancies have been fairly minute, others less so, but it lead me to wondering about other worlds. Your worlds, and the histories theirin; if you care to share them. I suppose I'm just curious, is it common for most of us... "imports" to be from worlds that are similar, or ones that are vastly different? Is there anything here that has struck you as odd?
[There's a small pause, an aside glance, as he arranges the wording of his next question carefully.]
And, are 'powers' common where you're from? Whether it be mutations, magic, or anything of the sort. Are these things familiar to you?
Please do forgive me if I take a moment to understand anything you have to share. I must admit, I am still attempting to process all of this... But I would not want to have anyone feeling put-out for my misgivings. Thank you. I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Re: [VIDEO]
Oh ah, I have super strength and I can regenerate from most wounds. I still feel pain, but when I get hurt, my body goes into overdrive to heal at a superhuman rate. Because of that, my metabolism tends to fire on all cylinders.
It also means I don't really ever get sick nor can I get drunk. I metabolize alcohol faster than I can consume it. Same goes for things like medication and sedatives.

Is that the only power you have, or were you given others by the Porter on the way in? I've read that such things can happen.
Re: [VIDEO]
[He shakes his head.]
Please, I never even wanted these powers. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I suddenly had more.

[He holds open one of his hands. A green mist forms between his fingers and comes together on his palm, to solidify into a silver throwing knife.]
Re: [VIDEO]
Re: [VIDEO]
[He flips the knife in his hands, and in a flash of green, it becomes a curved dagger with a gold hilt. Once more, and it's a simple butter knife.]
It generally takes the form of throwing knives, though I do seem to have some influence over it.
Re: [VIDEO]
But...why knives specifically? That's oddly specific.
Maybe you've got sharp wit?
[This guy.]
But no, it may simply be that I find knives to be interesting. They're one of mankind's first tools, and they've been with us through the millenia. I did learn some knife throwing in college, in the same way that some historians take to learning swordplay...
You mentioned you're a blacksmith? What sorts of tools out weapons do you favor?
Re: [VIDEO]
[Darin puffs out his chest proudly.]
Well, as the youngest Master in my guild back home, it'd be a shorter list to say what I'm not proficient in. I primarily made weapons that you would find in this world's version of the Eurpean Medieval periods, your swords, shields, axes, plate armor, the works. But I've studied techniques from all kinds of places back home. I've mastered the art of folding steel, like this world's katanas, and the like as well. Name a weapon, and I can make it. Same goes for tools, really. In fact, in my time here, I've spent more time trying to learn engineering since weapons I'm familiar with seem to have fallen into antiquity.
I still make them, though. They might not see a lot of use on the battlefield, but I consider what I do art.

[He considers for a moment, then offers:]
It seems as though you already have extensive knowledge on the subject, but there may be a tool or two that could have escaped your study. I'm familiar with multiple cultures around the world, so perhaps I could introduce you to some that you haven't encountered before. And in the case of knives...
[He summons them again, this time bringing up a Roman Pugio, an Indonesian Kujang, and a Yemeni Jambiya. With one final flourish, he changes it into a modern butterfly knife, which he twirls idly.]
I could offer physical examples for study.
Re: [VIDEO]
Yes! Absolutely! I would love to study anything you can provide me! I'll jump at any chance to learn new things!
Is there anything I could do for you in exchange??
[And he means that sincerely. For the most part...]
But, if you insist.. I'll keep it in mind, and may ask you for something small in exchange. Does that sound fair?
