Hello.

[Georgia is sitting, unsmiling, at her desk, but her laptop is closed in front of her. There's a window open--she keeps them closed most of the time but she recognizes the value of being well lit when you're on camera. It means she has to be wearing her sunglasses, but that's nothing new either. She's almost never seen without them.]

I'm working on an article about the effectiveness of imPorts, especially superheroes, in establishing long-term positive change. If you consider change to be a goal, I would appreciate if you could take a few minutes to talk to me on the record.

[She adjusts slightly, leaning forward, her hands steepling in front of her.]

Whether or not you are actively working for it, I am also interested in hearing what would, to you, qualify as a positive change. I am aware of how subjective a topic it is. I do not intend to make a statement in any direction until I've gathered as many facts as possible to build my opinion.

[It takes a few minutes to put together and filter for information that may be too sensitive for the public eye, but what arrives is the record of evidence behind Aegis accusations in these press releases from last year. The practical upshot is that the OTO has been in contact with Atropos in support of their interdimensional and anti-imPort research, that this contact has been extremely dangerous, and that Aegis has publicized the receipts to prove it.]

[It takes her a few moments to respond as she begins to read through the evidence. She doesn't do more than skim it for the moment, but skimming it is enough to get the gist.]

I see. But Atropos wouldn't only destroy imPorts, correct? The OTO wouldn't be spared.

Exactly. Actually, according to witnesses from her last attack, imPorts were the only survivors from that world. Including the assholes who brought her there.

It looks like OTO is playing with something they don't understand and can't control. But that's not surprising. They've never cared about the consequences of their "research."

Wasn't there a splinter group? Could they be reasoned with?

There's a group that wants to send us home instead of kill us. They're the ones who made contact at Death Island a couple months back, if you remember that. They were willing to talk, but their deal was that we would help spy on the government for them. Nobody was dumb enough to take them up on that.

The other group is all about nukes and killer robots. When we tried to talk to them last year, they trolled us with memes. There's not exactly a lot of room for reasoning or negotiation with them.

I do remember, and we made the right call there. Still, dissent is dissent, and if they were willing to talk once, they may be willing to again. On better terms.

[She refuses to consider the possibility that this can't be solved with words. Even now that she has superstrength, her words are her most powerful weapon.]
