[ River's voice is slightly wandering, but thoughtful. ]

A hero is an imperfect idea, full of good intentions and bad decisions, too many questions and not enough answers. Good people, bad people, it only depends on what side you're on. But I can tell which is which, I've always been able to. There are people here that aren't as good as they say they are, but also those who aren't as bad at they think.

No one really knows who they are. No one wants to.

[ There's a pause. ]

This place seems good for finding out who they are. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Nope. You remember those people in the underground base who talked your ear off? Those are the welcome committee. After that, you're pretty much on your own.

[ Ah, that. That had not gone well, mostly because River had been scared out of her mind that she's just been captured by the Alliance or worse, the Academy. There had been the imminence of violence before they'd sent her on her way. ]

[ It wasn't a huge stretch given the antagonistic way Catra had started the conversation. And River's good at putting the pieces together. ]

I doubt mechanics work on people. Who aren't robots. There are some people who are robots here, it might work for them.
