[ So here's a new kid on the network tonight. Trying to find an angle that lets him hide at least some of his nervousness. Or at least lets him use it to channel his best impression of a Definitely Normal Team, No Superheroics Here Honest. He mostly just looks awkward and nerdy, which is … accurate anyway, so let’s go with that. ]

Hey - um, so I’m Peter. Peter Parker. And I just got here, and -

[ He’s read through what’s left of his files, he’s read through the last couple weeks of posts just to get a feel for things. After that, he has one incredibly important question: ]

Did I seriously just barely miss out on a Death Star being here? For real? That’s not fair. Please tell me it’s coming back at some point.

[ That’s probably an objectively incorrect thing to want, but. Look. That would have made his entire life. He could die happy. For the second time. Well, the second time dying, first time dying happy. Anyway, he turns reluctantly to the list of actual serious questions he made. Not enough time to ask them all (unless he just takes in a breath and rapid fire asks all of them in thirty seconds) so he’ll just pick one for now. ]

So, school. How is that working out for people who still hafta go? And can you like … argue with it at all? Because I’m all for finishing high school, but this is my third time going into sophomore year and I’m starting to feel like that movie with the Ghostbuster being depressed in Pennsylvania.

[He returns to rubbing the guy's back.]

[ Other than bad news, obviously. Slowly, his breathing returns to normal. Calming back down. ]

A Latverian sorcerer, noble guy? Who is good with Robots. But if you've got something like EDITH, you should be able to handle that. Or the Fantastic Four can.

[ Yeah he didn't get any of that. ]

Latveria? Where's that? And who's the Fantastic Four?

[If he doesn't have a Latveria, he should be safe.]

Reed Richards and his team? You don't have those either? Then maybe you won't run into all those villains.

[ He just shakes his head, a little helplessly. ]

Only superhero team I've ever heard of are the Avengers.

But you've fought Thanos, one of the worst things ever. So yeah, I expect your world will run differently.

Yeah. Yeah, I guess so.

[ He's still sort of reeling here. ]

Why do you have so many superheroes? And supervillains?

[He reaches out and touches Peter's wrist again, checking his pulse, ignoring the wave of knowledge that comes into his head. That's going to get annoying.]

Something is wrong with my world. That's the best I can come up with.

[ Sorry, dude, that's what you get for touching a genius. His pulse is back to normal - for him anyway, which mean's it's high but no longer ridiculously so. ]

Because all these crazy things are happening and making people like this?

[Geniuses of the world unite. David doesn't mind the information. But he feels like he's starting to get a headache.]

Perhaps. Though for me and my world, there's also mutants and magic to consider.

I've got magic. But I still don't really understand what you mean by mutant.

Yeah, I've been getting that a bit. I was born Homo superior. A subspecies of humanity, capable of interbreeding. Born that way, and around puberty, or older sometimes, their X-Gene comes active. Powers. Like yours in some ways. I knew a kid, went by Anole. Green skin, like lizard hide. Scales up the back of his neck. Could go invisible with camo, sticky, long, prehensile tongue. Loses a limb? Replaced by something bigger, stronger.

[Part of him wonders if Vic is here. Hopes not. Guy would have to go to high school looking like he does. Hard thing.]

[ Peter just stares for a moment. Impressed. ]

Whoa. Okay, if that's a thing, I've never heard of it. Most of us got our powers from somewhere. Or something.

[David shrugs. He's actually managed to learn this because so many people have said they haven't heard of it.]

Mutants tend to get a lot of problems. They could be there, hiding.

I guess that's possible. But if they were, they could've come out while half the population was dead.

No, because they've always been outnumbered. People would have gone after them. Or am I supposed to believe racism is over?

[because he doesn't believe it at all.]

[ Sorry, dude. Peter has some obvious advantages on this front, but his twitter inbox sure did fill up with literal nazis the instant Mysterio revealed that Spider-Man was a Jewish kid from Queens.

Anyway, he sighs a little. ]

I'll keep an eye out. For everyone you just mentioned. Especially Cassie and - a female Hawkeye?

[Yeah, David would not be okay with that. Too bad Peter doesn't have a Billy Kaplan in his life. A Jewish witch from the Upper West Side to back up Peter and help keep him safe.]

Yeah, but if you call her that to her face, Hawkeye will kick your ass. I don't care who you are, she's pretty badass.

[ Peter Parker would be best friends with Billy Kaplan. Like. Instantly. ]

Hey man, I believe it. I just - the only Hawkeye I know is a dude? Unless you count anime.

[Which Billy would probably appreciate that. Though best friend was definitely already claimed, but Peter would make a good part of the team.]
