three. video. id: the Outsider. later tonight.
[ It's traditional, when asking simple, broad questions to the Network to do so in a text post but that's not nearly melodramatic enough for the Outsider.
He's in the desert in the outskirts of Jeopardy, night has fallen and he's looking not at the communicator but up at the stars. There's some faeries nearby he's bribed to leave him alone with pizza, but they make it cold enough you can see his breath glittering on the air. ]
The places you come from are varied, where even the things that you take for granted may be different here, or for other imPorts. Even this reality is changing week to week.
With that in mind, I have a question for you.
[ Now he turns to look at the comm, eyes empty and black. He tilts his head. ]
What do you think makes a god a god?
(( And regular reminder that if you respond with video, you are completely free to include a vision for him to see if you want! ))

Video (Vision to come)
[His people, for starters. Or parts of his people. What little education he's had from the native parts of his family has been scattered and corrupted, to the point that even Carter knows there are pieces missing, something he feels a little sad about when he thinks about it too hard.]
Re: Video (Vision to come)
[ Oh Carter. Perpetually cheerful to the point of amusement. ]
The Bible -- that is one of the holy texts of the religion here.
Re: Video (Vision to come)
Do they not have Bibles where you come from? I could lend you mine...oh, but I don't have one. Uh. I could get you one?
[Vague twinges of church say he should evangelize but 1. He's never done it before and 2. He feels like the Outsider wouldn't take well to it.]

The religions of this world are far different than the ones that I know, and I have had more of my fair share of experience with the ones from mine.
[ Being. The center (or anti-center?) of many. ]
Video
[Vision o'clock. A scene of men gathered in a cold prison barracks while a fat, jovial looking man in uniform calls out names and hands out letters. One letter is addressed to 'Little Running Deer' and he reads the name in confusion before Carter claims it. The other men lightly mock him for the name. Carter quietly notes that he's part Sioux, which gets him a little more mockery from his comrades, while the fat man is overjoyed to meet 'a real Indian, like in the movies'. Carter doesn't protest hazing, but has an expression of deep discomfort on his face.]
[OOC: Video is a clip from the show, the show is from the sixties, the show contains some...less than sensitive writing around race and Native American ancestry.]
sorry for the late !!
[ Which is a nice sentiment, except he's coming from it from the perspective of one who doesn't particularly care how the shrine gets made or if it gets made at all.
But then he sees the vision and he doesn't have the full context to understand it completely, but he has the experience to grasp the gist. He knows hazing when he sees it, just as he recognizes prejudice. He wants to poke at that, and so takes the opportunity to do so even if he has to force the segue. ]
Your family. They mean something to you, the ones who call you by a different name.
Re: sorry for the late !!
What name?

Or is it just how they address your letters?

How do you know that name?
[Nobody should know that name. Even the rats couldn't have told him that. Nobody here knows. Carter tries to think if he ever got drink and talked about it, but can't seem to remember.]

Yeah, uh. Maybe that was at the Stalag? Who did you see there?
no subject
[ He thinks back to what he saw.]
A portly man in a black uniform with a smile. Other men, like you, but louder. They called out the mail, and upon finding out your lineage made fun of you for it.
What was that place?

[ That intrigues him, though. Something he wouldn't have expected from such a cheerful man. ]
You speak fondly of him, despite him being the enemy and his treatment of you.
