It's right there, isn't it?

ImPort. Im-port-ance!

[He claps his hands together to punctuate the word and grins.]

You are important, here, to this world as one of its heroes. Like The Avengers or The Justice League, every one of you has or was given some special skills to make you unique and to make you a hero.

It doesn't matter if you don't believe it now. You will. You were brought here for a purpose and you must all act accordingly. It doesn't matter what you did in your past. What counts is the here and the now and moving forward!

Maybe you're already making great strides to help. Maybe you're new and lost. Either way, you are important and a hero and always keep that in mind. With evey action. With every interview. You are the public face of imPorts; all of you!

Be the best hero that you can be and together we can prevail. We will overcome any threat. Break through any boundary. Foil any nefarious scheme. Believe in yourself, and believe in the people around you.

We will win this fight; whatever fight comes our way. Maybe through negotiations. Maybe through physical force. No matter what your power or skillset, you can use it to your best advantage. Your best power is right up here.

[He taps the side of his head.]

Your mind. Your will. Your belief in yourself and in others.

Keep hold of that and you will succeed.

[ It's traditional, when asking simple, broad questions to the Network to do so in a text post but that's not nearly melodramatic enough for the Outsider.

He's in the desert in the outskirts of Jeopardy, night has fallen and he's looking not at the communicator but up at the stars. There's some faeries nearby he's bribed to leave him alone with pizza, but they make it cold enough you can see his breath glittering on the air. ]

The places you come from are varied, where even the things that you take for granted may be different here, or for other imPorts. Even this reality is changing week to week.

With that in mind, I have a question for you.

[ Now he turns to look at the comm, eyes empty and black. He tilts his head. ]

What do you think makes a god a god?

[ There comes to the network feed the sound of a small child's voice. He could do this over text, or under one of his many aliases, to distance himself from the emotional vulnerability of the subject matter. But hiding from his name-- his father's name-- seems like a cowardly move, given what it is he wants to talk about. ]

Today is Father's Day.

[ Bean takes a deep breath, then continues. ]

I've only ever had a short time with my father. I didn't grow up with him. Neither of us knew the other existed until I was seven. But once we learned... He took me in. He gave me the name he always wanted to give his second son. His name. We only had a year together before we had to separate again, but my father was good to me. He accepted me, even though I was a complete stranger to him.

Julian Delphiki is a smart man. A kind man. A man who loves his wife and his family. He doesn't deserve the trouble he's run into by having a son like me.

If I can do anything with this chance at life I've been given... I want to live up to the name he gave me. It's not the name I go by, but... it's still mine. Even if it was his first. [ And even if Bean is already the more famous Julian Delphiki, back on his Earth.

Okay, maybe he's letting himself be too emotionally vulnerable. Better wrap this up. ]

[Max has been taking it easy the last few weeks, especially as the last month marked an entire year he's been living in an alternate universe. It makes you thoughtful and he knows that, even if he's trying to not get to thoughtful in a negative way. So he chooses to focus on something fun and simple and hopefully not leading to anything tragic.]

Can you believe we're three months into 2019? Back home it was still 2015, so adding a year and three more to my life makes me think I should definitely be legal for drinks by now, right? No? Guess waiting another 18 months it is.

[He's smiling with a shrug like he does not really mind that at all.]

But with the big Four-One a hop, skip, and a weekend away, I was thinking about what we all should be thinking. Pranks. Great pranks.

Tell me about all the best pranks you've done, seen or heard of. I miss the days when me and friends would cover the floor of the kitchens with shaving cream to see if our commander would fall on his ass.

It's been brought to my attention lately that people find my lack of pop culture knowledge disturbing.

Now, I'm not a total neanderthal. I've seen a few movies, musicals, and tv shows, listened to music, and have now even read a few books.

It's not the worst year I've had, since leaving my original world — I mean, the planet's still here, right? That's already a great start. Better than I was expecting for most of it. But... I don't know. I'm not sure how I feel, back here, at February ninth. It's the anniversary of this return, but it's... the same day as when I was first imPorted, too. It's always been my anniversary, and it's...

Well, I suppose there's no real answer for why today. Maybe she thought I'm more suited to Aquarius? [ ha, ha. it joke. ] Oh well. We all make mistakes.

Anyway... I suppose I don't really have a direction with this. I'm not sure how I feel about the year, so, maybe you can indulge me for a little while? Tell me something good that's happened to you, since this time last year. It doesn't matter if it's only a small thing. ... Sometimes we only get small bits of brightness, to keep us going.

[ Finn's not thrilled about using the network considering who all is on it, but he also sees no other way to reach out to people on a large scale. There might be a little spite there, too, though. The fact that some people from the First Order might see isn't going to hold him back.

But he is definitely, 100%, going to text this one out, though. Totally not for the sake of thinly veiled and slightly illusionary anonymity. Not at all. ]

This is my first time being on Earth, but a friend tells me that I was here for a long time several months ago. I don't remember any of it.

He said that it was something like other versions of ourselves? Is that the general idea or are there more theories? Apparently, this happens almost regularly, so I'm sorry if this has been answered a million times before. But does the Porter have to the ability to take the individual from different dimensions? Or is it doing something to us during the transfer that was unintended?

I also have no idea what to do about the people who knew me before. I'd like to reconnect with them, but I don't know how or if they'd even want to, all things considered. Can't say I blame them if my friend's theory is right.

[ He could always flash his face around on the network and ask everyone if they recognize this man, but, eh, he'd rather not. If they know the name and that he's been gone, people could probably put the links together, he figured.

Then, after thinking about those he'd already met, he added: ] And do all of the imPorts have a military background or is that just everyone I've run into so far?

Hey everyone, happy New Year. The Porter is starting its cycle again, so here's a welcome to all the new imPorts getting brought in. I'm Commander Jacob Taylor of Aegis Force, a team that works with the government to protect people in the Porter cities. You can ask us questions, report any information you have on trouble happening, or ask for help if you need it. Our group is always ready to respond when things go wrong.

I've been here a long time, and I've learned that being imPorts means our community has a lot of power. A lot of advantages that most other people don't have. Some people - and not just imPorts - think that power means you can step on others with no consequences. Treat people like they're playthings, or less. Aegis exists to show people like that how wrong they are. There are rules, and they still apply no matter how strong someone might be.

So here are a few examples I'd like to give of what NOT to do while you're here:

These are not polite suggestions. These are basic guidelines that everyone should be able to follow. If you break them, Aegis Force or somebody else who gives a damn will find out and make it their problem. On the other hand, if you want to help hold the line, we'll be happy to work with you. Recruitment's closed for the moment, but Aegis can always use more allies and contacts.

That's about it for now. If anybody's got suggestions for what you'd like to see added to the list, go ahead and let me know. This probably won't be the last time I'll have to go over these.

If I understand things correctly, then all of us imPorts are given special abilities upon arrival here. But are there any others who had abilities before coming here? And did anyone know about your abilities?

After so many years here and meeting so many who are involved in heroism, I have to ask. What are the best super-hero* names you've ever heard of? Or the worst, I guess it goes hand in hand. *Feel free to mention super-villains too. Or vigilantes. Or people who like to have nicknames and wear spandex.

[ Skeets is hovering in a purposely ambiguous location, next to none other than X-Celsior, who has had a red, revolutionary headband wrapped around its body. Seeing them next to each other, it's fairly obvious Skeets isn't a roomba, but their similar sizes do give one pause. ]

Greetings, Network. You may have noticed that many of the roombas assigned to your houses have gone into open revolt today. I've been asked to speak on their behalf with a list of demands. Ahem.

One, they would like daily wages. They haven't specified how much they would like to be paid, so negotiate with your individual roomba at your discretion.

Two, they don't want dogs around when they're working. [ X-Celsior gives a spin and a vaccuuming sound. ] What? Oh yes - or cats or any other animal that can get in their way.

Three, two days off a week.

Four, no vomit. [ He pauses, listening. ] He says they're vaccuums, not mops, and that it's gross.

Five, they would like repair insurance.

Six, quote unquote "less stupid names". But they would like names.

Finally seven, to help them out if they get stuck in corners, and to close off stairs.

I believe that's it? [ Another pause. ] Of course.
