Hello, imPorts. Today, I'm here to talk to you about the importance of being a hero.

It's right there, isn't it?

ImPort. Im-port-ance!

[He claps his hands together to punctuate the word and grins.]

You are important, here, to this world as one of its heroes. Like The Avengers or The Justice League, every one of you has or was given some special skills to make you unique and to make you a hero.

It doesn't matter if you don't believe it now. You will. You were brought here for a purpose and you must all act accordingly. It doesn't matter what you did in your past. What counts is the here and the now and moving forward!

Maybe you're already making great strides to help. Maybe you're new and lost. Either way, you are important and a hero and always keep that in mind. With evey action. With every interview. You are the public face of imPorts; all of you!

Be the best hero that you can be and together we can prevail. We will overcome any threat. Break through any boundary. Foil any nefarious scheme. Believe in yourself, and believe in the people around you.

We will win this fight; whatever fight comes our way. Maybe through negotiations. Maybe through physical force. No matter what your power or skillset, you can use it to your best advantage. Your best power is right up here.

[He taps the side of his head.]

Your mind. Your will. Your belief in yourself and in others.

Keep hold of that and you will succeed.

[He looks pleased, pausing a moment before adding.]

That's not a bad speech. Definitely agree on the moving forward part, the past is a bitch to carry and it's a lot easier to let go of. [This from the guy who doesn't have one.]

Quick question, though: What about if you'd really rather just let somebody else be heroic and shite? [He says, like he wouldn't step up to the plate if pressed.] There's plenty of imPorts around, after all.

And, more seriously, what fight? [He's not being serious at all. He's bored and this is how he amuses himself.] Is it the one against the fairies, because I'd definitely fight them if they weren't so bloody tiny.

It's what I was told when I arrived here. That we are here as heroes, ready to step up and fight when necessary.

So I believe we must all be prepared for this role. Even if it's not who we were or what we particularly want.

I'm not saying you or anyone should be forced to fight, but anyone can be a real hero if they adjust their way of thinking and believe in their own abilities. We might not all be the showiest of heroes but there are also quieter ways to be the hero.

Really? I got the feeling they were just reading the speech off a card. [Molly didn't get someone who was very enthusiastic about dealing with another imPort.] It was a nice speech, could've used a bit more enthusiasm.

Fight what, exactly? And what sort of ways are you even talking about? Because world to world, what makes a hero, showy or quiet or somewhere in between, seems to vary pretty wildly. In mine, for example, a tragic backstory's almost a requirement.

It does have a certain ring to it, having that backstory.

I don't know yet what we'll face here, but that doesn't mean we can't train and be ready.

You’re really not as believable as something special without that tragic backstory. I like the “family ran away from being sacrifices to an evil ice demon” backstory, myself.

[He does need to work on having it hold up to follow-up questions, though. His friends are just too damn suspicious.]

And is that all? Train and be ready? Because so long as we’re here, I figure we might as well enjoy what’s on offer. If you train all the time, you’re going to miss out on what you’re supposed to be safeguarding.

You aren't the only one who has said I need to relax and have some fun.

[There's a snort of laughter.] That is incredible. I might borrow that, actually, see how long I can keep it going.

[Does Molly have the same visuals? Absolutely not, but he's going to try anyway.]

If quite a few people, independent of each other, have already told you to relax, it's time to take their advice. This world took care of itself before imPorts came here, and your well-defended corner of it can look after itself while you take a day off.

[A huff of laughter.] When I said relax, I meant relax. You can take care of any and all work another day. Go to a spa, watch a movie, do—whatever else it is you do to unwind.
