[ Gold. Hopefully you like gold, because you will see a lot of it. Heavy golden walls behind a large golden throne. Comfortably seated within? A potentially new face, looking pleased and overall just friendly enough despite being clad in full armor, complete with large, horned helmet and holding a golden spear in his hand.

Can you possibly see through illusions? Then enjoy Loki occupying a regular living room while casually holding a broom. He's just here to deliver a show, really. The armor and helmet are real, however.

After permitting the image to settle for a moment, he finally speaks. Loki's initial words are measured carefully. ]

Mortals of this realm.

[ He raises from his throne and takes a step forward before settling into a meaningful pose. ]

You have earned yourself the protection of a god.

[ You get another moment to take this in. Or just enjoy looking at this god. Then, all of Loki's dignified behavior and display slips away in favor of a wide, open grin and his unoccupied hand gestures lightly. ]

They could have just asked, though. You know? Instead of just pulling me here and--

[ He lets that trail off with a dismissive wave of his hand. Let's not talk about that, okay? ]

I am Loki. Rightful King of Asgard.

[ That same hand that has just been gesturing dismissively is now placed over his own chest as Loki offers a bow to his audience. ]

And I look forward to serving you.

[ For his roommates at Nonah #004: Your living room is currently stuck under an illusion. You will find yourself stepping right into Asgard's throne room. It's painfully golden. Enjoy your new Asgardian pest. ]

Well, no. I think Asgard got blown up? So what was left moved to Norway.

[ His perspective is limited, but that’s about what he knows. ]

[ A snap can be heard as a wooden broom surrenders to the force of a suddenly clenched Asgardian fist. Whoops. There goes his makeshift Gungnir. The illusion of the golden spear doesn't falter as it drops to the floor, but there is a flicker to it as well as the entire surrounding illusion Loki had crafted for this. These things require concentration, you know? And Peter... wow. ]

What?!

[ Loki snaps for a moment, but gathers himself as quickly as possible. A certain tension remains, however. ]

That cannot be true.

[ Yes, he will just deny it. ]

[ Whoa. Peter double takes when the illusion flickers. Was that a broom? He’s pretty sure that was a broom. ]

It’s definitely true. Sorry, man. You can ask Thor about it?

Thor.

[ Because that’s just the right name to drop on him. Especially if you aim to aggravate Loki. ]

What. Has that witless moron done now?!

[ The question comes sharply, but Loki now also narrows his eyes at Peter. ]

And how do YOU know all of this? How do you know Thor?

[ That’s. A very good question. Peter doesn’t want to just say he’s an Avenger so... ]

I didn’t have anywhere to go when I first got here? He let me stay with him.

Also I have no idea how it happened, but I don’t think it’s his fault.

Of course it isn’t. It is never the fault of Thor.

[ Bitterness? No, of course not. Loki isn’t the type to- Okay. He definitely is. Younger sibling issues. Maybe don’t call him out on it.

He gathers himself with a mighty eye roll of frustration, lips pressed into a thin line while he picks up what’s left of his patience. It takes a moment, but he manages enough to not keep snarling at Peter. But he remains tense. ]

So who are you?

[ Let’s not keep talking about Thor, okay? ]

[ Well - okay, he can tell when he’s on a sore topic. He can shut up for now. Until he forgets and says the wrong thing anyway. ]

Peter Parker. I’m from New York. The same one you invaded in 2012.

[ Oh.

Well. This would probably be an awkward situation for some, but... Not for Loki. And while he is silent for a short while, he doesn’t really look as if he is regretting anything. He does tilt his head from one side to the other, and finally offers a half shrug. ]

Now. What can I say? You narrowly missed getting ruled by me.

[ Too bad, right? ]

[ That's about what he expected, honestly. The even is at least long enough ago that he's not ... mad, exactly. It's not great? But it's a little like being face to face with a hurricane. What is he supposed to do, get mad at it? ]

Does ruling people usually mean destroying their house and killing their family?

I never got past attempting to conquer your planet.

[ He points this out with a raised index fingers. To him the event is barely days in the past. ]

How can you judge my rule without having experienced it? I did rule Asgard, after all. And that went very well.

Except for the part where it doesn't exist, right.

[ Come on, he's already using the past tense here. Even if, as far as he is concerned, Asgard still exists as it should. ]

Did exist. Right. I dunno who was on the throne when it blew up, but I don't think it was Thor.

[ Just saying. ]

You are not trying to blame this on me now.

[ Because he's not going to accept the blame for Asgard's destruction. ]

[ Peter shrugs a little. And then relents. ]

I really don't have the whole story, I guess. We just studied New Asgard in school since it's been around for almost six years now.

Six years...

[ That's now an awfully long time for him, but still.

Fine, he'll ask. ]

Right now, back home? 2024.

[ Darn it, Peter. That means his little invasion on your city lies over a decade in the past? Twelve years have passed and within those twelve years Asgard supposedly gets destroyed?

Learning about the future is... Hel. If he can't figure out a way to use this knowledge he'll be damned.

For now though, this Asgardian at least looks puzzled. For a moment. ]

[ But then he wonders. ]

Were you even still born when I attacked your city?

[ ARE YOU REALLY ALREADY TWELVE YEARS OLD? Shouldn't humans be all grown up by that point? ]

[ Loki. Loki pls. Peter instantly makes a face. ]

Okay, first of all? I'm seventeen. And second of all, I would've been twenty-two in 2024, except some asshole named Thanos killed me for five of those years.

[ He has a way to go before he may fully understand humans. Though he might just... Use this internet to look up more about your species.

But until then... ]

You were dead for five years?

[ But more importantly: ]

And were resurrected?

Yeah. Me and half the the population everywhere. The Avengers undid it, though.

[ He swallows a bit, suddenly a little choked up. ]

Did they...

[ And yet again he has a lot to unpack here.

First and foremost: Thanos. Is this that great plan that the Titan requires the Tesseract for? The Tesseract that is to be brought to Asgard along with him?

Is this why Asgard supposedly gets destroyed?

Is it in the end his own fault after all?

Loki closes his eyes for a moment, straightens a frown that has settled unintentionally before nodding once, more to himself than anyone else. ]

Right. Of course they undid it.

[ He looks at Peter again, seemingly having recovered from his unshared thoughts and even puts on the vaguest smile. ]

You should thank me then, for bringing them together.

[ Peter flinches at that thought instinctively. Opens his mouth to make some of those exact connections about the Tesseract - and then closes it. That’s something Spider-Man heard from the Avengers. Peter Parker might have been Stark’s intern, but he’s pretty sure that he isn’t supposed to have all of those details. ]

Yeah, I’m still not feeling grateful. One of your Chitauri spaceships kind of squished my aunt’s house.

Oh, I'm terribly sorry for that.

[ Of course he isn't. But he rather goes straight back to being a pest as to let anyone notice that he's brooding over unpleasant thoughts inwardly. ]

[ Wow, Loki. That gets a cold glare from Peter. ]

No. My aunt and uncle were both safe. My parents died, but they were somewhere else in the city.
