[Oracle is on your airwaves, using a voice distortion to make a call on all imPorts.]

Seeing the posts here, we have all received some form of message. A cipher. I want to decode it. We need to.

What message have you received?

[OOC EDIT: Per the recent OOC Mod Post, and a response to my question to them on plurk, the thread that previously held the solution and discussion about it has been deleted. I apologize to those that had commented in these threads, but this post's aim is to begin the IC discussion process. I look forward to future posts that will reflect the solution in game!]

How did you come up with bears? Did you figure out a pattern in the arrangement of the messages?
forgeabettertomorrow: (I don't really get it but...)

the dots in the messages seem like breaks kinda like morse code? They could signify separate words

so far we have 'wise' and 'eight pieces' as clues and it looks like there's eight different texts total not counting the people that got clues

so Im just grouping things together using the dots as breaks and trying to unjumble words

Okay, that makes sense. Classic differentiation for codes.

Some people have been talking about the symbols being something like a compass, with the directions being the order of the pieces. What if we need to take letters from all the pieces, and not just by themselves?

okay so that leaves us with ^ > v < / \ // and \\

how do we know which order the pieces go in? Do we just look at a compass, start at North and go clockwise?
forgeabettertomorrow: (you're an asshole here's why)

WISE!!

THAT'S IT!!

WISE REFERS TO CLOCKWISE!! WE READ THEM CLOCKWISE!!

OH MY GOD THAT'S LIKE WHAT WE SUPPOSED IN ANOTHER THREAD

[She takes a picture of the pieces on a whiteboard with magnets, in the right order this time.]

The symbols are just like a compass! North south etc!! The letters might form words that way too! That would explain the other punctuation marks!
forgeabettertomorrow: (That's amazing!)

Once we determine the proper starting point we just read the letters clockwise with the dots signifying the end of the word! Thats it! Thats the code!!

[JANE IS FREAKING OUT NOW THEY'RE GETTING CLOSER]

So which one is north? The one with the ^ or the v symbol?

well we can try both ways and see if we get readable results

Sounds like a plan.

[She goes through it a few times with that and some other possibilities, but as they will find out below ... It's not good.]
