[ Hey look it's Clem! Hi Clem! Only she looks a little ... guilty, and sheepish today. She's curled up on a chair by the window, with a book open in her lap, and a look of concentration on her face. Occasionally she glances up and around at a sound of the apartment settling, or a bird chirping - any noise she wasn't expected she jumps a bit in surprise. ]

.... I kind of messed up at work today. I think the man I work for is mad at me.

[ Or just a little concerned, Same thing. But uh... what exactly she did to make him concerned in the first place ...well, she knew she screwed up badly there. ]

Is Thane still here?

[ She hopes he is, but...wouldn't be surprised if he was gone - that tended to be the norm; people leave. At least he hasn't died right? After an awkward pause, she decides to offer another question. ]

And... um..What's a tibisp? I can't find it in the dictionary.

I wouldn't know, I've only had them, usually at a restaurant.

...I think it's a kind of spice? Is there an index?

[ A few minutes as she flips through the pages for said index. ]

.. No. But they should have it at a store, I guess. If it's a spice.

Did you like it when you ate it?

We had seafood a lot where I was born. So I suppose I did.

[The perks of growing up in Maine. He's always preferred seafood unconsciously to anything else.

He's struggling with this because if this person is hungry...this kid is hungry, he's not about to let her starve.]

Have you thought about stew? Seafood stew? It's easy, you boil water, vegetables, some other spices you might have.

That's lucky.

[ A pause between responses - she IS hungry, but she's gone without food before. Still, stew was something different. ]

I've never tried seafood stew.. can I make it with the crab meat? [ It's seafood, right? Since it came out of the water. ]

I only have salt and pepper. Are those spices?

[There's a pause as Ward switches to video. He locks it- the last thing he wants is Skye to scare this kid off, or any of her...friends.

He knows what it is to go without food.

To have to wonder if you'll be able to last another day. Or at the very least, not sleep with a full stomach every night.]

[There's a pause, he looks uncomfortable for a moment.] ...Figured this might be easier then texting you.

Salt and pepper are spices. What you want to do is put the water on to boil then put a pinch - that's just enough salt between your thumb and forefinger? Into the water. Boil it first.

...What else do you have in terms of meat and vegetables.

[ Ooh, hey a face to put to the text. She's rather curious about him locking it though, but the introduction gets a cautious and brief small smile. ]

Hi Grant. I'm Clementine.

[ Okay, so salt and pepper are spices. Great! As for meat and vegetables... urm. She scoots off of the fridge, taking the communicator with her so she can go look. Setting the communicator on the counter, she checks the fridge. ]

I have the crab meat...

[ ... and that's about it actually. Well she has some water, eggs and such. She moves on to her cabinets. ]

Vegetables.. I have some canned ones. That's okay, right? Corn, and.. potatoes. And a can of string beans too.

[true story most of grant's cooking skill tends towards stews. Meats, venisons, things he'd shoot and eat. Crab meat and corn and potatoes.]

...You ever fry things?

... no.

[ Her parents did all the cooking before. And after... well.. it ... gets tricky there. So she dodges around -that- topic. ]

It's the first time I've ever tried cooking anything.

[Of course. He should have recalled that.]

...Okay.

[He won't ask any more questions. He's good like that, considering her options. Strength, that's the name of the game.]

Get a pan and some butter. One of the big circle ones with a handle.

[ She's grateful he doesn't ask questions. She also takes direction pretty well, clattering about and ..being very glad the apartment had been equipped with a lot of kitchen utensils already. She hadn't thought to get that stuff. Pulling out a round frying pan, she set it on the stove top. ]

How much butter?

[ She was going to take out the whole stick she, and a plate. So she can cut it down to a manageable size if she needs to. ]

Like, a slice. [He never had butter. Not until Garrett would bring him some and god just seeing this kid, younger then he was... Like Reggie.

But he keeps his face passive, encouraging.]

This size. [Thumb and forefinger to demonstrate] and a pinch of salt. Put it in the pan and smear it around. That'll help foods not stick.

Once you've done that, potatoes and a can opener are next.

[ She glanced at the feed when he gestured the measurements. Taking the encouragement, she sliced a bit of butter into the pan. Can opener? Got it covered - she had the manual kind though, so it took her a bit to remove the lid on the can. ]

I cut up the potatoes, right?

[ She's going to have to put some aside and bring a dish for him since he's helping her make the stew. ]

[Ward would probably struggle with emotions. And maybe like, try not to cry.]

Yeah, if you leave the skin on - some people might tell you not to? but it's crispy and it adds essential vitamins. Cut um small but be careful.

[Ward for his part is flipping through a book in between speaking. "How to train your dog.". Good for work.

He looks up] ... How many potatoes do you have again?

[ Oh. Oh dear Clem would feel torn and not sure how to deal with that! It'll have to happen, yus. ]

Three. [ Hrm. Does she have to wash them? They look clean though. Meh. She smiled faintly, cutting up the potaoes carefully - easy work. She glanced at the video feed curiously while doing that, taking note of the book. ]

You have a dog?

[He doesn't flinch as he closes it] I work as a dog trainer. [He hopes to. His interview is tomorrow so he's trying to cram. He's gotten most of it down]

I was going to say if you save one potato you could make double stuffed potatoes with crab and cheese.

Do you have a dog?

Ooh. That's a neat job.

[ You can do it, Grant! She paused, about to slice another potato, her stomach suddenly growling loudly at that suggestion. Embarrassing as that is, she considers the other option. ]

... that .. that sounds really good.

[ Double stuffed -anything- with crab and cheese. Oh my god. So much food she could eat. ]

A dog...? [ She set the potato aside for said double stuffed potatoes, frowning slightly. ]

...no...but I like dogs. ......there.... There was one I was with for a little while. It...

It didn't work out.

[ Poor Sam. ]

Okay leave one potato. did you turn the stove on? Put the crab meat in the pan, then get the cheese you said you had and put it in the potato with lots of salt and pepper.

...you have any garlic?

[ She's nodding to the question about the stove, dutifully putting crab meat in the pan to cook, sizzling away. ]

No.. should I have gotten some? [ She paused, taking out the cheese. ] It's going to taste weird without it, isn't it.

No! It won't taste as flavorful but that's okay.

[He double checks to make sure this is private] ...If you want. When you've made it yourself? Down the line...I could show you how to make it again. In a few weeks or so.

[As if Clementine doesn't have enough people interested in her welfare already probably.]

I mean and get you all the right supplies. Better supplies Once you've cooked the crab though you're going to stuff the potato so cut one in half, hollow it out. Like you're making a boat?

That's how you start making it.

[ She eyes the feed suspiciously, wondering if he's just saying that to humor her. The offer though, he actually manages to get a small smile out of her for that. ]

Yeah..? I'd like that. [ Learning to cook is more fun with someone helping out after all.. Keeping an eye on the crab meat cooking, she started slicing the potato in half, ignoring the occasional growls from her stomach. She was a pro at that now. ]

[ As she snagged a spoon, she started carefully hollowing out the potato, trying not to compare it to scooping out zombie goo. Yieck. ]

Do you live in Heropa?

It took me awhile to learn how to make it. [Garrett had taught him. There's a brief flash of sadness in his gut, but his features remain blank, friendly, animated.]

Just got here. any advice?

[ For a moment, she mixes the crab meat about so it won't burn, considering the 'advice'. ]

Ummm... I guess, learn how to use the powers that they give you?

I'm.. I've only been here about a month or two so I don't really have a lot of advice to give. [ She shuffles a bit before venturing an offer. ]

If you want, I ..could bring you some? Stew, I mean. Or the stuffed potato.

[He smiles] I'd love that. That sounds great. ...when it's done?

[ Clem smiles back, nodding. ]

Yeah. Where in Heropa are you staying? Are you in the government building?

[He grins] I am.

...Once you've stuffed all that stuff in, turn on the oven and put the potato on a pan. Then pull it out and you can eat it while you're cooking that stew.

[He's put the book down, moving to the communal area.]

....I had a dog too. His name was Buddy.
