[His massive castle city of cards that takes up almost his entire cell is finished, and visible. Infact, that's all you see is towers and towers of cards to the point that it's difficult to tell this is a Government Holding Cell at all. Quite the feat, one of utmost patience and concentration. Perhaps it- and the few visitations he's had are all that's keeping him from going over the edge in here. Though, that's pushing it. Were his Nen active and his aura accessible, his bloodlust would be felt all around him and over a wide distance. You can hear it in his speech, how tired and strained he is, though it's obviously he's speaking through a slim smile.]

What is your New Years resolution? [Something he's learned is quite a thing in this world, though doesn't everyone make goals for themselves? Guess people need a reason for everything they do- effort is quite difficult to come by when disinterest lingers around.]

I'd like to know what sort of things people here work for. [Like how he worked to finish this ridiculous town of cards, for example. Certainly showing a lot of effort there- or boredom.]

So if you have Queens on your cards, then that means your world still has some concept of royalty. Queens rule places- that much doesn't change. So you could have put it together, even if you don't know the place I'm talking about, and you're just nitpicking because you're an asshole.

I don't think I'm ever wasting effort by attempting to learn something new, even if I ultimately don't have much of an aptitude for it. It's good to experience new things.

I don't mean something 'new' I mean something that doesn't fall in your natural talents. Anyone is better only focusing on those if they truly want to unlock what their potential holds. [New things. He laughs.]

And you would- say experiencing new things is always good in some way? [Of course you would. But lives are short, if you want to get at your best, you don't have time to spare on wasted efforts on wasteful things you were never meant to be good at.]

I normally take this amount of interest in many things about others. And is it so wrong to be curious? What makes a man- the world around him does much, and it can give me a good idea of what else is out there.

[Really he just wants to hear about it because it will say quite a lot about this person he's speaking to. The sort of place someone comes from, if it's harsh enough, will have a definite effect on someone. A more casual world with wider freedoms would say something else. It's- asking a lot of questions by asking one.]

Yes, I'm quite aware of how card houses work, believe me. But when someone else knocks down something you've made it's something else entirely. Do you normally like enjoy wrecking dreams? You ever knock a child's ice cream cone from his hand?

[ outside of being ridiculously high functioning, telepathy and a couple less formidable things are all that makes him abouve baseline human. and a teenager on top of it.

for a while, thomas isn't sure he really wants to expand on that part, as remembering his world is something he ends up doing despite all efforts to the contrary often enough here. but it doesn't really hurt to answer, he doesn't think.

after all, he's pretty much terminally honest and/or blunt about things. ]

paraphased version, bunch of shanks thought it'd be a good idea to take children, trap them into nightmarish experiments, then watch them get tortured and slaughtered just to see how they reacted to it.

Yes, I would. There's no way to truly know what one's potential encompasses, or what will further you to realizing it if that's what matters to you. Everything in life has something to teach.

[it's sort of like what Dio had said so long ago, although less distorted. one could plan and plan, but the world can easily upend them. there was no one way to becoming the best possible person you could be.]

[The formidable things are what he's interested in. But again Hisoka would rather someone with- more physical ability. Abilities like telepathy, mind control, things to cause massive explosions with no sense of an actual 'fight' being necessary? Time control even could make a fight not as good. It needed to be- a moment.]

[It needed to be something physical and emotional and dramatic. A fight to share between two men, to be felt.]

[Kind of defeats the purpose if one of them can just mind control the other person to punch themself in the face. While Hisoka would be quite impressed with such an ability, especially if it was honed to perfection- he wouldn't aim for a fight with them.]

[Though- there are, other things he might want to do with them.]
