[The video’s framing wasn’t the best – so sue him, he had never had a camera or camera-phone back home – but that’s why autofocus existed. Ezequiel smoothed out his shirt, took a deep breath, and grinned brightly at the camera. He hadn’t really done much more than put his things down in his new Nonah apartment before immediately going for his communicator, going off of the background.

Though clearly a little nervous, the young African teenager’s enthusiasm was clear as he spoke.]

Hi! My name is Ezequiel Aloiso Endelela Omaandaxa and, uh, I'm new. I’m also a superhero, back home. Which is great, except, well. [There's an awkward half-second pause as he chooses his words carefully.] I’m sort of the only one now. In Angola, I mean, not the world. I got to meet Congo’s superheroine once; she is so awesome. But since everyone’s so spread out I’ve never really been able to learn all the stuff I want to. Like how to fight without my powers, or practice with them safely, or get my Mamãe to quit worrying so much every time I’m ten minutes past curfew. Though I guess that last one can wait, here. Anyway, the point is I’d love any advice anybody has. I want to keep doing good here just like back home, you know? Especially since the government here actually supports superheroes instead of trying to arrange ‘accidents’ for anybody with powers.

Ohohohoh! [He makes a gesture with hands as if remembering something incredibly urgent, and holds up one of the pages that was tucked into his file.] They gave me this flier for the comic book shop I get to work at here, but they don’t have any of the same comics as back home! Is anybody else from my world? Can you tell me if Okapi-Man and the Silver Shadow get together at the end of the time-travel arc? I missed the last issue and it’s driving me nuts. They’re so perfect together, I have no idea what the writers were thinking with that love triangle they had in the crossovers with Terros the Earthmaker. Was that to just boost sales? Anyway, thanks!

[The Major addresses the network in her tan JSDA officer's uniform, perhaps looking and seeming even more commanding than usual.]

For those who don't know me, my name is Motoko Kusanagi and I'm running for Maurtia Falls ambassador. First of all, I'm not a politician. My goal isn't to use this position as a stepping stone to higher office. Rather, I think my background makes me uniquely qualified to address some of the biggest issues that affect Maurtia Falls. I served as a major in the Japanese military and as the squad leader of a police unit dedicated to fighting terrorism and government corruption. I hope to use these skills in office to make Maurtia Falls a better, safer city.

I've lived in Maurtia Falls since arriving here, and my focus has always been on combating crime within the city. Whether it was independently, briefly as a member of RISE, or as part of the anti-crime organization Archangel, I've tried to make the city a safer place for both ImPorts and natives. But the problems in the city are more than just muggers and drug trafficking. I would say that institutional corruption is the largest problem facing the city and the biggest threat to its residents. The government and police all have extensive ties to organized crime, making any efforts to clean up the city a futile effort. I hope that as ambassador, I would have sufficient leverage to begin purging the corrupt elements from the city.

My second goal is to foster more productive and transparent relations between ImPorts, natives, and the government. It's no secret that there have been difficulties on this front in the recent past, and with the rise of both pro- and anti-ImPort factions, it's only likely to get more difficult if there is not a significant change. Speaking as an ImPort, vehemently pro-ImPort organizations such as the Constellation that claim to have ImPort interests at their heart but remain concealed in the shadows are not the answer to the problems facing our community. These cabals only serve to heighten tensions and steer the course of the ImPort-Native conversation toward violence, which is in the best interest of no one save perhaps the leadership of the Constellation. I would caution anyone swayed by their rhetoric to consider who benefits most from their actions, and who is likely to get hurt by them. Only through transparent dialogue can we start to address these issues in a constructive way, not through secrecy and subterfuge.

I'm open to any questions, concerns, or ideas. After all, the role of ambassador is to serve you, not to seek my own aspirations or those of some other group.

—and, got it!

[When the feed cuts in, the first thing anyone might see is—a mop of brown curls. Wow. So exciting. After a moment, a young boy's face comes into view, blue eyes alive with an excited curiosity. Some more adjustments, and the background finally makes itself clear: the kid's in a park somewhere in De Chima, and he happens to be dressed like a Ghostbuster like it's Halloween or something.]

Hey, so, I've got a few questions. A lot of questions, actually. [So many curiosity doors, so little time.] To start with: anyone else here from Hawkins? [He hopes so. He—really doesn't want to be alone.] Man, Mr. Clarke'd have a field day.

[Eat your heart out, Hugh Everett.]

Secondly, has anyone started up an imPort A/V club yet? I'm a little curious about how it would work, especially since people from all kinds of different worlds with varying levels of technology keep getting pulled in. I think it'd be a great opportunity for us to learn about technology from other worlds, and from this one too. I know I'd love a crash course in how to use this—they called it a phone, but it doesn't really look like one. [Phones looked very different where he's from, and they definitely can't do half the stuff this device can.

Something warbles shrilly nearby. Dustin's head turns, and he bends down a little out of frame to talk to something just off-screen:]
Shh, Dart. I'll feed you nougat later, just gotta finish this up first. [Turning back to the comm:] Also: Is there a species on your world that, appearance-wise, might be comparable to a pollywog but isn't? Like, pollywogs are cold-blooded and need heat and light, for example, but that particular species actively avoids heat? What kind of food would you feed it? [Beat.] I'm asking for a friend.

[Will sits on a bench at the beach. The way the camera is angled, most of what can be seen is water lapping at the shore as the sun begins to set. One jean-covered leg and a hint of plaid is visible on his end, a hand with a bandaged finger, but not much else.]

April's gone. Ludgate. Been here for years, back in the City before all this. Vanished when the Porter was busted. Thought maybe once she got working again...

[But he thought wrong, from the looks of it. The waves continue. Tension and loss linger off screen. Two teenagers in bathing suits run by, splashing water and screaming that it's too fucking cold, but they laugh and keep going. What is hypothermia to a youth in love?]

Guess not. Hope nobody else had the same misfortune.

[There's a bit of something gruff, stern in that; sure he does hope for that. He's hopeful it doesn't happen again because the alternative is to just be Pissed and Murderous, but it's cold and that's a lot more effort than he's up for, so he settles for Disappointed and Could Go For A Kill To Avenge My Love Once It Warms Up.]

Anybody want a dog?

[Doc sits in a room stockpiled with inventions. Crafted clocks, blenders, and a single hoverboard hovering at the side of the frame. It's a bit of a mess, but he's been busy. His smile's lopsided but just slightly cautious.]

I once thought I was too old to have a midlife crisis. How foolish I was! Though in hindsight, my entire scientific career of the past thirty years was one long shining example.

I have one powerful light in my life to guide me, but little else---only distant memories. I'm a little late to make a new year's resolution, but here it is: to take the risk of reaching out to the community again. I used fear and doubt as excuses to live in isolation for most of my life, and the moment my new life here hit a few snags I slipped back into that old pattern. Predictable, but disappointing.

So...hello again. I'm Emmett Brown, one of your many neighborhood mechanics...and for the thrill seekers among you, I've just restocked the hoverboards.

And I'm also seeking a brave dog-sitter, if anyone is interested. You'll be compensated well for your time, of course.

[He closes by pointing the camera over to the dogs in question---two white Samoyeds, all smiles, looking proud that they haven't made a mess today.]

[Hi, Network. Have a very cheerful looking man in a bright yellow leather jacket and a black t-shirt reading 'mexican funeral' beaming happily at you.]

Oh! Right. There we go. I think it's working now. Hello? Can you all hear me?
[He taps the screen, but then just keeps beaming.]

Well, I'll find out soon I suppose. Isn't this exciting? It's almost like advertising. I thought about making up some business cards - you know, for self defence - but this seems much easier. And so much more personal! Now you can just talk to me, whenever you like. From your heads, even!

Okay. Yes. Right. Where was I.

Hello!

My name is Dirk Gently, and I am a Detective. I mean, technically, I have a detective agency, but since they're still back home and I'm not, it's more of just a detective than an agency, so- yes. Just me!  And even then, technically, here, I work at a sword shop, or I am supposed to soon - though, haha, I've never used a sword in my life so I really wouldn't recommend me. As a salesman. For you. If you know what I mean.

The point is! If you have any cases or unsolved mysteries or just some very weird happenstances-- well, happening-- please feel free to give me a call. Or a text! Or one of these video message things. They seem very handy.

My rates are very reasonable.

Oh. Also. If I suddenly appear in your living room? I am very sorry. It's an accident. Probably. Though maybe you'll be happy to see me?

Is anyone missing an octopus? Because I maaaaaay have found one.

[He smiles brightly, and the video winks out.]

[ooc: option b: if your character needs help, for any reason, feel free to leave that as an action prompt instead of replying to the post. His power means that he will randomly teleport to people that need help. How much help? Well. That's up to you. It doesn't matter. If they need help, he can appear.]

[ Pitch's voice is smooth, and sounds practiced like he's familiar with oration for others; the tone is conversational, but still a touch sly. ]

I find it interesting that the term used to denote those who arrive here - imPorts - inherently implies that they are foreign things that are unequal to those who are born to this world.

Thus I am curious: would any here have chosen, if had been given the chance, to remain unknown to the populace and to live as if you'd always been here? A false life in a false home... and yet still, it seems as if that would be preferable for some who have arrived here.

Of particular consideration to any who've wondered about the place of imPorts in this world: where do you believe this world would be, if imPorts had not begun arriving when they did? Would this world be better off, or worse? Has the presence of imPorts calmed tensions, or inflamed them?

[ OOC: Please take a peek at his permissions for whether your character might be able to hear Pitch speaking, or if this will seem like an "empty" feed and he'll switch to text, thank you! ]

[The man in front of the camera is broad-shouldered, dressed in a black suit of respectable quality. His hair, also black, is slicked back, and even the strands that have escaped to hang in front of his forehead appear deliberate. With the square glasses he's wearing, the look is more than a little "corporate executive." He's glancing nervously at his wrist, though, and when he speaks it's with a mild tenor that doesn't match the sharpness of his appearance.]

Nanites... [The pause as he turns to stare at the camera stretches out.] Are we dead when we arrive? [He speaks haltingly. He's never been good with words- that's Harry's skill.] Do they use these to make us work for them?

[The video continues for several more seconds, before with a small "ah" he seems to realize he won't get replies until he actually posts this, and taps the screen.]
