[If there is one thing that Asami had been ill-prepared to leave behind by arriving in this world, it had been her busy schedule. While she has a job, being the CEO of Future Industries had kept her busy in an entirely different way. That's not to mention her hard deadlines with Varrick with the oncoming fights. She had been busy. Even when she had been running around the world with Team Avatar, she had remained busy. The idea that she now has a strict schedule with extra days is ... strange.
It's not that she's restless, though. In a way, she's relieved. With everything she needs to know, the extra time allows her to catch up.
When the video clicks on in Asami's room, it's obvious that she's been doing a fair amount of "catching up"—or starting. Within view of the camera, there are stacks of books: various engineering texts, texts on physics, texts on chemistry, texts on architecture, texts on modern civil engineering practices, and more. None of them are historically bent, and a few of them lay open at the top of the piles. Some of this is refresher for Asami, while other pieces of information are new. What is clear is this: she wants to know it all.
Asami's eyes widen when she notices that the video is already on, as she is still acclimating to this. She smiles pleasantly after a moment.]
Hello, everyone. I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Asami Sato, and ... well, admittedly, I have a bit of a request. [This is where she's partly inspired by Hiro's post from the other day. He had asked for ideas on what to build, and while that's a good direction to go in, she has to go back to basics first.] I was wondering if anyone had any spare appliances or other electronic devices you'd like to let me have a look at. If it's broken, I can even do my best to fix it. I did a fair amount of that at home, but right now, I just want to figure out how things work. Fixing it would help, right? [She brightens at the thought.]
And I don't know that my housemates would like me taking apart the toaster again. We need that! [A beat passes, where she interjects with a brief laugh.]
Aside from that, I'd like to know how long imPorts generally stay here, and ... if it's normal for them to sometimes remember very different things from their friends from home.
Thanks in advance, everyone.

I've got a system that'll navigate for you, if you'd like to see that. It's not broken, but it's awfully clever, so that's enough to make it worth looking at.
[ And, the part she's really curious about... ]
Anyway, how different is different?
video
[She considers mentioning that she has a power that can do that. It's made adjusting much easier.]
And ... at least a couple weeks of time. But in our lives, a lot happens in a short period of time.

I've been kind of doing that too — taking things apart, I mean. Figuring it out bit by bit.

How much have you worked out so far? [After a moment, she grabs a book on the basics of electrician work and lays it out in front of the camera.] All of these components are easy to grasp, and thankfully, they're very uniform about them. But it's the more complicated objects with the condensed objects that are giving me more problems.

As for remembering different things, it's not unusual. One of my crew remembers me being a woman where he comes from, so ... [ That sets the standard of different pretty high. ]
voice;
And that is definitely ... unique. Do you think those kinds of differences are common? [Will Mako remember a male Korra and Asami if he ever turned up? Her eyebrows crease at the thought of it.]

When I arrived here, my friend was different. They were ... normal again, I guess you'd call it, but back home they had been acting weirdly to the point of being a different person. [ Anxiously, she tucks her hair behind an ear. ] They're not keen to talk about it, understandably.
[ Which doesn't stop her worrying, in the meantime. ]

[It's the first thing she says, and it's what she allows to hang in the air while thinking of what else to say. Asami doesn't want to leave things there, as it's almost impolite, too. If this woman wishes to speak, Asami is willing to talk to her.
Partly because she's in that boat, in a very strange way.
Of course, she also has a moment where she looks at the privacy setting in consideration. The programming in these devices really is something.]
Back home, my friend who just arrived had lost her memories once after a ... specific circumstance. It made things kind of awkward. [Also, Mako handled it terribly. Because of course he did.]
Now that I'm in her same shoes, I feel bad that she has to deal with me not knowing everything. And from what I do know, I don't want to pressure her to tell me everything. But more than that, I'm worried that I can't support her the way I normally can.

But it's very hard to pass up a pretty lady's request when you're a pseudo-romantic monster. Asami should feel very free to ignore him.]
I wouldn't mind letting you borrow some of the things from my home-- none are broken, but if they'll help you, it would be my greatest wish.

... I know some imPorts come in from different times. [Can't say too much, in case Joseph is looking at the network.] But I don't think fate changes.

[Elsa isn't much of an engineer, though, unless it involves her own powers.]
I can't say anything around here is broken - Mr. Pennyworth keeps things neat. But there is a vacuum at the store I work at that's been broken for a few weeks, if you'd be interested in that.
video;
[A world without spirits being integral to the way the world functions changes things. While the worlds were separated back home, it still made it different.]
And I'd gladly take the vacuum off your hands. Hopefully, I'll be able to return it in much better shape.

As one of your roommates, I'm Rosie, by the by, I don't mind if you murder the toaster. We've all done that.
[ have they tho? rosie has. and she seems earnest, french accent softening her tone. ]

[Although the words themselves are perfunctory, Asami adds a genuine warmth to them. She might sound like she knows how to just say the right thing, but she doesn't want to sound fake about it. That isn't her deal.]
And what about the communal computer? Because ... it definitely looks like I have to fix that, too. [She's not laying claim to it but Asami would never ever blame Korra.]
