[He's in a bit of a hurry so he'll make this quick:]

When someone drinks too much, what do people do to help them feel better? What's the cure? Sometimes, we'd cook this fish back home that helped out or our elder back home used to do a bunch of mixing with herbs and stuff, but I doubt that's the case here.

Also, this isn't as important, but. What's a Catty Purry?

[He means 'Katy Perry', but close enough.]

Oh, there's a lot more to it, sure. Hear "viking" and you probably think big muscles, giant beards, pointy hats, but I can guarantee you, that's not what you'd see if you saw me.

[Though the voice is already a dead giveaway, considering the nasally higher pitched tone that isn't associated often with his kind.]

[look maybe all vikings really talk like this. if Hiccup hadn't said anything, that might have ended up being his assumption. it's not like he knows any vikings, he's not that old.]

A beardless viking does sort of go against the stereotype, yeah. No offense. Though I'm guessing you're used t' not taking offense at stuff like that by now.

[Hiccup laughs a bit sheepishly as he shrugs.]

Yeah, no offense taken. I got over the brooding phase about that ages ago. Though being here, it's kind of a return to really standing out and being pretty different from everybody else. But I guess take away the clashing of timelines and everyone's really from their own world.

You mentioned being "Irish" before. That's actually something I have heard about before, though I've never been over there before. Ireland, right?

Well. Almost from their own world.

[a little darkly; he can't help himself. some world mates are more appreciated than others. it is known.]

But that's a pretty positive outlook there. Now, do they really have Ireland, where you're from? Get out. [and he's actually kind of pleased to hear that, for all that his age and supernatural affiliation have sort of divorced him from kin and kith and country and all.] And it's still called Ireland?

I don't know too much about it, since I've never been, but there's this guy — Trader Johann, we call him — he comes and goes on his boat to all sorts of places and brings back stuff from all over for us to buy. [Practically the only way he ever really knew about other places before he got the chance to fly off on his own.]

He's mentioned Ireland. Would bring back books and clothes from over there. Talked about other Vikings being settled there.

Well. What d'you know.

[He's weirdly more pleased about this than he'd have thought. Because what does it matter, right? It's probably not even the same Ireland, and even if it was, it's not like it counts.

But it's still--weirdly--nice.]

I don't, uh, really remember much about history, but. On behalf of all those Irish vikings that I'm probably not even related to: you're welcome, for the books and stuff. And we hope you enjoyed 'em.

[He gives a light laugh.] I did. I used to be stuck on the island pretty much most of my childhood before I started flying out so reading about other places was a nice escape at the time.

[Even from a young age, he would have done anything to try and get away, wanting to explore the beyond.]

Guessing what I read is a bit different from how it would be for you. Time differences and all of that mumbo. What's your home like?

[how does a viking fly sounds like the start of a joke. so... even though he's wondering, he doesn't ask. yet.]

Yeah, you might be surprised. I know some people that've read some very old books. [ha ha vampire jokes] But, uh. Yeah. I don't actually live in Ireland, anymore. Haven't for years. I lived in Bristol, and then Wales.

Hopefully you've never met anyone that's been to Wales.
