Hey all. Quick PSA:

Over at StarkTech there's a team of us that are working on a solution to some of the weird ~memory shenanigans~ that you might have seen around lately. We're no closer to a cure, but I'm pretty sure we HAVE now successfully got a working prototype for a "vaccine" of sorts. Basically we've figured out how to upgrade the imPort nanites to protect anyone else from getting false memories implanted in their head and believing that they're real.

If you want to swing by StarkTech any time this week, we'll be happy to fix you up. Free lollipop for people who come in, and it doesn't take any time at all. You can pop in over a lunch break.

The project's being headed by Jemma Simmons, Hiro Hamada, and me-- hi, I'm Skye, if we haven't met before. We'll be rotating different shifts, so you might not see all of us, but one of us will be around.

Feel free to assume your character went in and saw one of them, or if you aren't comfortable handwaving having met one of them off screen, you can always say a random faceless lab-tech saw to you instead! Feel free to comment in here if you feel your character would though, or if they have questions, and network threads can always transition to action threads if you feel like playing it out. [ He laughs briefly, not sounding embarrassed. Just. Yeah. ]

But you know for sure this will work? Pretty sure?

I've given myself the injection, so I'm pretty sure, yes. If you come into contact with any foreign brain patterns that aren't yours, the nanites should now recognize them as foreign and reject them as not belonging to you.

[soldiarity]

Wow.

[ He's not sure what to make of that, it's way beyond his comprehension. But amazing. ]

And that... [ A pause. ] "Not yours" meaning your own brain definitely wouldn't ever come up with it, right?

[hackitude]

Right. We had to cast the net pretty wide, to account for stuff like changing as you grow older and experience new things.

[soldiarity]

If someone's had memory problems before, would that interfere with anything?

[hackitude]

Hmmm. I don't see why it should. We're just giving the nanites a program to key themselves to your current brain patterns, so they can learn to differentiate between "yours" and "not yours." Like your immune system.

[soldiarity]

Uh... okay. Then that'll probably be okay. I don't know much about how this kind of science works, so sorry if that was a stupid question. It's hard to explain.

It wasn't a stupid question. It's brain stuff. You're right to be concerned.

[soldiarity]

It's not concern, exactly. I just wanted to make sure it won't cause... side effects.

[hackitude]

... I'm not going to lie to you. I can't one hundred percent guarantee that it won't. I gave myself the shot a day ago and I've been fine so far, but that means nothing. We're only a pool of three, here-- that's why I'm asking for more volunteers. Different people sometimes have different reactions. But if you're worried, you should wait. StarkTech isn't going anywhere soon.

No, I'm not worried. I'd rather try it than risk the other thing... to me, that would be a lot worse.

Can I come in soon for it?

Sure. I'm in all day today.

We should catch up, too.

[ He's surprised by that. ]

Yeah! We... I wouldn't mind that. [ Surprised but pleased, by the sound of it. ] Do I need to bring anything with me?

[hackitude]

Nope. Just yourself.

Not even coffee? Okay.

Then I'll head right over, I'm not doing anything else either.

Well, if you want to bring coffee, I'm not going to stop you.

[ With a laugh: ]

Fine, coffee too. For... three of you? I'll be about twenty minutes.

[ Although he'll be early, more like fifteen. ]

[hackitude]

[Skye busies herself with some menial task in the meantime and tells the front desk to expect Reiner, so he should have no problem finding them on arrival.]

[soldiarity]

[ Reiner has the three coffees in tow, holding them against his body with one arm so he can knock on the door jamb with the other. ]

Hi. And here. [ He'll just set the coffee down on the nearest desk to Skye. ] Thanks for letting me come in.

[hackitude]

Hey. And seriously-- we're gonna be pretty flat-out out here the next few days with this project, so you're actually doing me a huge favour.

[soldiarity]

Happy to help. If it works, it's worth it. [ His smile is there, though a touch tenser. ] Plus, if anything goes wrong with it, I can heal most problems.

Uh -- do I sit down somewhere?

[hackitude]

Wait-- you can heal people?

[soldiarity]

[ Oh. Sheepishly, he shakes his head. ]

No, I just meant myself.

[hackitude]

Oh. So self regeneration. Like... Captain America.

Well, that's-- that's good to know too.

[soldiarity]

I don't know who that is, but for whatever that knowledge is worth. Um -- I don't mean I'm expecting anything to go wrong.
