Hey all. Quick PSA:

Over at StarkTech there's a team of us that are working on a solution to some of the weird ~memory shenanigans~ that you might have seen around lately. We're no closer to a cure, but I'm pretty sure we HAVE now successfully got a working prototype for a "vaccine" of sorts. Basically we've figured out how to upgrade the imPort nanites to protect anyone else from getting false memories implanted in their head and believing that they're real.

If you want to swing by StarkTech any time this week, we'll be happy to fix you up. Free lollipop for people who come in, and it doesn't take any time at all. You can pop in over a lunch break.

The project's being headed by Jemma Simmons, Hiro Hamada, and me-- hi, I'm Skye, if we haven't met before. We'll be rotating different shifts, so you might not see all of us, but one of us will be around.

[Kick off for the memory sharing plot! Again, you don't have to have commented to this post to participate. Feel free to assume your character went in and saw one of them, or if you aren't comfortable handwaving having met one of them off screen, you can always say a random faceless lab-tech saw to you instead! Feel free to comment in here if you feel your character would though, or if they have questions, and network threads can always transition to action threads if you feel like playing it out. Skye, Hiro and Jemma will be out and about in places. Peace out!]

nope. it's a vaccine not a cure. actively fixing someone affected ... that's a lot tricker.

Good to know. People expecting a vaccine probably wouldn't want a sudden cure for something like that anyway.

[personal profile] microbrobotics 2015-01-29 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah. you know somebody affected or something?
attainment: (and some mistakes were built to last)

[personal profile] attainment 2015-01-29 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I do, unfortunately, which is why I wanted to know. Your answers cleared some things up, though, so thank you.

friend of yours? what do they think they are?
attainment: (and you don't belong to me)

[More like a "friend", but details.] The false memories are leftover from an incident prior to this one. As of right now, it's nothing as debilitating as what we've been seeing lately, but I was concerned about the potential side-effects such a shot could have with someone already "ill", so to speak.

... oh, i get what you mean now. how does someone get false memories outside this stuff that's happening now?
attainment: (Winter's chill chilled me to the bone)

[personal profile] attainment 2015-01-30 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
By falling victim to someone who has the power to change them, for example.

A man once abused such powers for his own gain, destroying lives in the process. He's not here, thankfully, but seeing what such an ability can do in the wrong hands has made memory manipulation a deeply unpleasant prospect to consider, to say the least.

[Understatement of the year.]
microbrobotics: (awkward)

[personal profile] microbrobotics 2015-01-30 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
wow. sounds like a winner.
attainment: (you're moving on.)

[He was an awful human being, and what makes it worse is that Barnaby has to actively remind himself of this fact whenever he catches himself mourning over what happened to him.]

Since he felt justified in his actions up until the bitter end, he probably thought so himself.

Anyway, I'm going to drop by at some point this week, and I'll likely ask other people to consider doing the same.

yeah. well. sometimes those are the worst kinds of jerks. the ones who think they're right.

yeah, whenever you want. if i'm in, i'll show you what i'm working on.

I'd like that, as long as you have the time for it.

[personal profile] microbrobotics 2015-01-31 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
why not? you showed me your suit. fair is fair.
attainment: (It's the one good thing that I've got)

[personal profile] attainment 2015-01-31 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
[It's not quite the same, since he can't exactly help much outside of ordering hard-to-get materials. But he appreciates the gesture regardless.]

I'll be looking forward to it, then.

[personal profile] microbrobotics 2015-01-31 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
sure. just send me a text before you come over so i can make sure to be here.
attainment: (being in the places)

[There's a nostalgic part of him that's deeply interested to see what Hiro is working on. It's probably the first time he's been remotely excited about anything since before he even came to Heropa back in May.

Still. He has to play it cool, so he sends a simple:]

Sure thing, and thank you in advance.

[ That's adorable, Barnaby. ]
