Hey all. Quick PSA:

Over at StarkTech there's a team of us that are working on a solution to some of the weird ~memory shenanigans~ that you might have seen around lately. We're no closer to a cure, but I'm pretty sure we HAVE now successfully got a working prototype for a "vaccine" of sorts. Basically we've figured out how to upgrade the imPort nanites to protect anyone else from getting false memories implanted in their head and believing that they're real.

If you want to swing by StarkTech any time this week, we'll be happy to fix you up. Free lollipop for people who come in, and it doesn't take any time at all. You can pop in over a lunch break.

The project's being headed by Jemma Simmons, Hiro Hamada, and me-- hi, I'm Skye, if we haven't met before. We'll be rotating different shifts, so you might not see all of us, but one of us will be around.

Feel free to assume your character went in and saw one of them, or if you aren't comfortable handwaving having met one of them off screen, you can always say a random faceless lab-tech saw to you instead! Feel free to comment in here if you feel your character would though, or if they have questions, and network threads can always transition to action threads if you feel like playing it out. [ Seriously? Kitty shoots him a look. ]

If you think I'm not going to make sure you get a party, you're mad.

[ He makes a face. Though, it's not completely horrified. ]

That's not why I told you! Ugh, forget I said anything at all!

[ If it had been completely horrified, she might have backed off. But she can tell when he's being a little bit coy. ]

Well, it was why I asked. Save me a bit of time so that I don't have to go back and stalk every single conversation of yours on the network. Who's definitely got to be invited? And do you want your birthday cake chocolate or vanilla.

[ He huffs a little. ]

I like chocolate, but I don't even know who would come.

[ She prompts him: ]

Well, Skye would come...

Oh. Yeah, I guess so. Ed and Winry too? Barnaby? I mean, I've only been here like three weeks.

[rathercommon]

[ Hold up - ]

Barnaby? The cranky tall fellow? With the superhero powers? You made friends with him?

[microbrobotics]

... Yeah? I think? It's hard to tell with adults, but - I mean, he didn't seem cranky to me?

[rathercommon]

[ She grins and shakes her head. ]

No, that's just brilliant. He always seemed so...standoffish, I guess.

All right. If I put out an open announcement on the network, would you murder me for it?

[microbrobotics]

Nah, I don't think so. Though I guess it helps that he has an armored suit and I offered to help him repair it.

[ He's not going to talk her out of it, is he. His brother would have done something similar, he's sure ... In the end, that's what gets him to nod. ]

Only if you promise not to say I'm turning fifteen.

[rathercommon]

[ With a smile, and a shake of her head: ]

I know you like having some measure of privacy. No mentioning your age, no mentioning your surname. Promise.

[ He brightens a little at that. ]

Thanks. I know I'm just being paranoid, but ...

[ She wrinkles her nose at that disclaimer. ]

Believe me - my first month here, I went under a false name. If I didn't have to convince people of my good intentions, I'd be keeping my identity concealed, too. I think you're just being smart.

[microbrobotics]

It is smart! We've got no way of knowing who's out there for real.

[rathercommon]

[ A firm nod. ]

Yeah. And once information gets out, there's no stopping it from spreading. You can't undo that.

[microbrobotics]

Exactly. Besides, even if it were safe, most people won't take someone like me seriously.

[rathercommon]

Because you're a kid, you mean?

[microbrobotics]

I'm smarter than almost everyone. And more mature than, like, half.

[rathercommon]

[ She has to laugh at that. ]

And so completely well-schooled in modesty and humbleness.

[ Her mirth fades a little bit, though, when she tells him: ]

In my world, we leave school when we turn fifteen. Go into the workforce. I certainly don't think we've got a good system, but...If fifteen's old enough to work, at least in one world, then it's certainly old enough to have people not turn up their noses at you.

[ But... ]

In my opinion, at least. But I guess mine's not really the one that counts, is it.

Hey whatever, I just don't deny the truth when I see it.

... And your opinion counts more than most people's, so. I'll take it.
