It's been a while, but I suppose I'm curious—and it's hard to do much for curiosity, once it's born, is there? Some feelings can't be snuffed out, once they exist, no matter how much you might wish for it.

[ The voice is that of a young woman, somewhere between late teens and early twenties, lower-middle pitch and a steady cadence. A little tired, perhaps a little bored, but not irritably so. ]

Darkness, Earth, Water, Light, Wind, or Flame.

Choose one, please. But, before you do, know that there's no right answer, or wrong answer, and there's no moral component to any of them. "Light" doesn't mean good; "darkness" doesn't mean evil. Only whichever suits you. Something a little trivial, perhaps, but I'd like to hear your answers.

What do you think it means? [ With a curious lilt. ] If it affects your answer.

It could either mean a reflection of our personality, who we are, or just- Like that keyword game. Name the first element that pops into your head, ready go.

My gut went with wind, but then I thought about it and decided maybe water. I tend to go with my gut, but that's why I needed some clarification. [ spoiler, apparently Teresa is taking this way too seriously. but she's aware? like. totally aware she's just DIGGIN' IN DEEP over here. ] Not sure what that says about me.

First instincts are usually right, though hesitations are good to consider, also.

What made you retreat from wind?

Can't live without water.

True. But the absence of any can be fatal, also.

[ she shrugs ] That's where personal experience comes into play.

Darkness made me think of having to hide, so that's off the table. A giant rock fell and crushed me to death, so no to earth. And my whole planet was fried by solar flares, so light and fire are a little on the iffy side too.

So that leaves wind, and water.

I think wind wins out, in the end. I always go with my gut.

[ Rough list... but when Ruka is this flippant about her own sufferings, she does it to avoid the pointless sympathy of others, so she doesn't offer her own in return. ]

What does each answer mean? What does it say about the person who chose it?

Haha, that's a bit much, don't you think? I might be killing time, but I certainly don't have enough to psychoanalyze twenty people in one go.

You said there's no moral component, but what do you think our answers do reflect? Our answers have to come from somewhere, right? Is that reflected in which one we pick?

Your answers come from you, of course; I can't determine why anyone picks anything, any more deeply than preference, or instinct.

You asked the same question twice, so I gave the same answer twice. I asked the question, that's true, but the possible answers were ones that existed long before me. I could sooner change the color of the sun tomorrow than change what has already come to pass.
