[Crane notices the willingness to discuss Father's Day amongst the community - sons have lost their fathers, and fathers have been torn from their daughters and sons. To say certain imPorts were angry about the separation; that didn't even begin to describe it.

So today, there's the opportunity to research. Father's Day offers everything he's looking for. The ritual tradition has transformed the collective human subconscious and is an annual display of feelings. Denial. Aggression. Love. All emotions that originate from one source, one word.

And that word is fear.

His tone is soft and hypnotic, with a slight lilt. It's the gentle tone he uses on his patients when he wants them to talk.]

A proverb says, "When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry."

[Crane taps his comm against his knee, and then he rests it on his desk and folds his hands in his lap. He licks his lips, once - and clicks his tongue in his cheek. He crosses his right leg and sinks into his chair. These are the those parts of his body language that nobody can see or hear, but are thoroughly expected to those revealed to the man he is. He's prepared to weather any open confrontation.]

Humans cry tears of joy and tears of sorrow. But for each person who begins to weep, another one stops.

I suppose it is the warmth of the relationship that makes fathers and sons cry.

[A pause. His voice remains soft and calming.]

If any of you find today difficult, I am willing to lend a confidential ear.

[Happy Father's Day.]

Often attributed to William Shakespeare.

Ah. That desperate to find new patients, are we?

[ True, but Kid's very careful to never cross into any kind of religious reference when talking to others. ]

It's an interesting interpretation, no matter the origin. Plausibly incorrect as a blanket statement, but not amiss in sentiment.
itistolaugh: It grants wishes. (I have one flannel shirt.)

Looking for daddy issues, Jonny? How basic.

[This is the doctor Edward's mentioned once or twice, correct? It's taking monumental effort not to laugh at his tone.

But she shouldn't be rude, because she's supposed to weather an appointment or two, isn't she? All she has to do is get a clean bill of "stress-reduced" health, and work will stop nagging. Stop saying 'you seem jumpy, Officer', and queries regarding how she's not been herself lately--far more on edge.

The communicator will read her full name, no attempt at concealing her identity here.]

I believe that you are the infamous Dr. Crane.

How generous of you to be seeking out patients on a weekend. And on a holiday, no less.

Stop.

[she's not sure what Scarecrow is going for here, but it can't be anything good. and no, she won't have the decency to do this in private.]

It must be like Christmas for you.
itistolaugh: I'm glad we're finally beating that prettyboy up. (Hard livin' with Rodney Dangerfield.)

It's so much more than that. But of course you have your own agenda.

Are you actually after something here, or did you just see the chance to stir the pot? Troublemaker.

I've heard your name before.

[Her tone is level and calm, however stern. There's nothing to hint at her overall distaste for the fact she's even initiated a conversation whatsoever, despite how much she'd rather not have.]

Many work jobs as such. I do the same.

[A pause, and here when she speaks again is a hint of frustration. Not anxiety or nerves, but outright irritation.] Or I would, anyway, were I not currently attached to a desk in headquarters. It's been politely suggested I seek a physician to ensure that the various disease outbreaks have not caused undue and irreparable stress to my psyche.

[She sighs. It's good acting, in many ways. She almost sounds bored. You could picture her resting her hand on her chin in thought, resigning herself to following the order she was given.] My assurances alone have thus far been insufficient.

Don't flatter yourself. I don't worry. [A chuckle.] If anything, I find this all rather amusing.

Bringing out proverbs about crying, mentioning difficulties with this day and the relationships to do with it, and offering to lend your services on a day off.

I suppose some would call that kindness. [But he sure as shit wouldn't. Croc's sounding so entertained rn.]
itistolaugh: (Should've fucked Sailor Moon!)

Good ol' Doctor Crane, always so helpful, so giving. I'm sure that's what everyone says.
itistolaugh: (This scenario is okay if you're Greek.)

[personal profile] itistolaugh 2015-06-21 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Urgh. That one's punchy.
itistolaugh: There's a really good fastball cut. (The third one was an ironic present.)

Y'know how the Bat's pretty distractable, always willing to talk it out? Not that one. She's not much for talking at all. Hell of a right hook though, I can tell you that. But then, girls always fight meaner than boys.
