[The camera is flicked on, already expertly focused. Josuke's doing, in case you wondered. But then, he's a teenager. He ought to be experienced if only for all the selfies he's taken!

Sitting next to him at a table outside an ice cream shop called What's the Scoop? is Hisoka. Unlike Josuke, the magician is busy with a gumball popsicle and doesn't appear to be paying any attention to the camera at the moment. The teenager, on the other hand, is already ready and eager to talk a little 'business' with the network...]

Okay, my friend and I had this amazing idea a while back! [Josuke throws an arm around Hisoka's neck and tugs him closer in a headlock. This involves you, buddy! Let the people see how amped you are!] See, we've been wanting to play some paintball, but then we got to thinking...why not make it an open invite? For imPorts, I mean.

[There's no jump at Josuke's sudden headlock but Hisoka definitely stops eating his ice cream to almost uncomfortably stare at the foreign limb slung over him. Only to then look down to see half of the popsicle he was eating now on the ground. Thanks Josuke.]

Mm... [A pause before he glances up to put in his two cents, just dropping the rest of his popsicle and the stick on the ground.]

An open invitation, yes, and we've already chosen the location. All you have to do is pick your own partner... or partners. It really doesn't matter how many of you there are. Though, to have the most fun? The more the merrier.

Yeah, and like, how many of you can resist an opportunity to pelt this guy in the face with paintballs, am I right? [Josuke nods in Hisoka's direction before sliding his arm off the other man's shoulders, though of course his smirk remains in place.] I'll be honest, though, 'cause I feel like it wouldn't be fair if I didn't warn you guys... Hisoka and I? We're gonna be on a team, so if you think we're gonna make it easy for ya, think again.

[Leaning forward to pick up the camera, Josuke cocks his head to the side, eyes bright with unbridled fun and mischief.]

If you're interested and you think you can keep up, then be ready for the 18th. Hisoka or I will text you the location the day before the game's on.

Oh...and one final thing. [Are you guys still listening? If you plan to play, you should be!] It's anything goes as long as it ain't lethal!

[And that's, as they say, that. Josuke hangs up, though not before a horrified yelp from the teenager can be heard...]

Fuck! Hisoka, I think you got ice cream on my new shoes!

[Carries a note of "What about it?" albeit not in a hostile way. Just...curious. Perhaps cautiously so.]

I'm joining too, so... I'd like to meet the other people who are.

[There isn't much caution in Sabriel's voice- just friendliness and curiosity.]

[Josuke's first thought? This isn't exactly the kind of first impression he wanted to give other RISE members in case Olivier decides not to let him participate, but...it's not too late to sober his youthful enthusiasm up a little.]

You're... [He checks the network ID.] Sabriel?

[That name rings a bell.

...oh.]

Yeah, it's nice to meet you. Name's Josuke Higashikata. Sorry we haven't spoken before now.

It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Josuke. [Sabriel's tone is a little more formal, but still warm.]

And it's fine. There are so many imPorts, I probably haven't spoken to half of them.

So, you're joining RISE, too?

[Can't say Josuke's tone is warm, he doesn't have a very high opinion of those who deal in magic involving the dead...because his best friend in this place happens to be among the undead. But he's at lest respectful. He's gotta be, he doesn't know much about Sabriel and he'd really hate to go forging an opinion based off one or two events by themselves and without context.]

Guess that means we might end up working more closely together in the future. I can see why you'd wanna get to know people who're taking part in the initiative.

[Come to think of it, he should do the same. But he's not really sure what to say.]

Yes- it's filling a necessary role, and I want to help. [Sabriel's... a little confused, but not too put off by the lack of warmth.]

Exactly- we'll be working- and eventually fighting- together. Hopefully not too often, but when we do, we should make sure we work together as well as we can.

...yeah, you know, we probably should.

I mean, I think our powers are pretty radically different, so maybe finding out how we can make that an advantage rather than a disadvantage would be a good idea.

[A good idea, but he's really not sure how he feels about it, or how Hazel'll feel about him associating with Sabriel too much. Maybe he should talk to her? Just to keep her from getting any weird ideas...]

You...wanna meet up sometime?

Right- And I should probably tell you that my magic- both types- tends to interfere with technology- including things like cars and guns. It's an inconvenience most of the time, but it can be helpful. [Just in case one of his powers involves tech.]

I wouldn't mind at all! Do you have someplace in mind?

My power doesn't have anything to do with operating tech on any level.

[Disassembling and reassembling it, however...]

I can fix things. Stuff that's broken. Objects, people...as long as all the parts are there and what I'm trying to fix hasn't crossed the threshold between life and death.

[There's a reason he's u n s u r e himself about Sabriel's magic, and it's because his own doesn't involve disrespecting the deceased. Still, he's trying to remain objective and open-minded here, so he addresses the question...]

The park in Heropa might be a decent spot, unless you're looking to do demonstrations?

Good. That's a line that's not meant to be crossed- it often is, in my world, but my father and I work to reinforce that boundary however we can. [Josuke, let Sabriel rant at you about how the Proper Use of Necromancy is making dead things stay dead.]

The park's fine- we should probably save the demonstrations for when everyone in RISE can see them.

[Yeeep, he's got nothing to say about that. If he could restore life, he probably would.

There are so many people he's lost, not to mention all the people he knows who've also lost loved ones...if he could just bring them back to life again, make things how they used to be before the awful things that wrenched them away took place...

Well, that's wishful thinking. He's learned to appreciate and work with what he's got, and in a way...it's better like this. Because the price of restoring a life, that's surely something far beyond his ability to pay.]

The park, then. Next week, would that suit you?

[It'd give him time to contact Hazel, and then maybe midweek he and Sabriel could meet in the park, around the 8th or so?]

[Sabriel can restore the dead to true life... occasionally. Under exactly the right circumstances. But there's always the risk of both corrupting herself and turning the person she's trying to help into something that needs to kill people to sustain its existence. There's a reason she promised her father that she'd never do it.

She's not afraid of her powers, and she doesn't hate them, but she understands just how dangerous they can be, and how desperate people can get.]

That's fine! Just give me a date and time when you're ready.[The 8th sounds fine!]

Next week, then. Wednesday.

[Some risks people are better off not taking. Meeting a stranger, however, isn't one of them. At least not this time. Josuke feels compelled to learn more.]

So...you're gonna take part in the game?

[That'll be a good way for them to demonstrate around one another what they're capable of, too. Although Josuke already has some idea of what Sabriel's tools can accomplish...]

Of course- It sounds like fun!

[Although Sabriel will be sticking to Charter Magic. 'Don't use necromancy lightly' is one of those lessons her father impressed on her too deeply for her to ever ignore. She probably won't even bring the bells.]

[Josuke's not really sure what else to say following that, so he settles for a simple, "See you next week," before he disconnects. He figures if Sabriel has more to say, she can always contact him in between now and then...]
