[Yomiel, or "Sissel" as he's been introducing himself, is sitting in an office chair at a desk with at least six glowing computer monitors around.]

You know, you always hear people griping about wasting their days away in an office or at some other lame job. Always saying they wish they could just do nothing all day long and have no greater purpose than that.

[He's experimentally fiddling with some cables and adapters on his desk space.]

People are always inclined to gripe. They're never satisfied with their normal, boring daily lives. But the moment that boring life looks to be over, they'll always scream and beg for things to go back to normal.

That's why I think being normal is underrated.

[He hesitates for a few moments, still fiddling with his cables.]

How many other people out there were dead before they came here? I bet every single one of us is thrilled to have a life again-- the more normal and boring, the better.

Unless, of course, your world has a particularly nice afterlife. Mine sure didn't.

What was the afterlife like in your world? Are we talking "oh it's raining" not nice, or "stuck on Splash Mountain during it's a small world" not nice?

Nah. Just nothing, that's all.

[For him, anyway.]

Just walking through the world for all eternity, completely unnoticed.

That sounds boring. I'd rather spend the rest of my time in Purgatory than just wandering around invisible.

[Might even prefer to spend time in Hell, eeesh.]

Right. At least it would have been something different.

[Maybe there was an afterlife, of sorts. Though if there was, Yomiel wouldn't know what it was like.]

What about your world? You mentioned something called Purgatory?

[larker]

Tell me about it.

My world? It's got Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, the whole caboodle. None of those in your place?

[vengefulshades]

Well, there's all sorts of different religious beliefs. Plenty of people say the gods live in the heavens, but I'm not sure about Purgatory or Hell. Those who die are able to see the Ghost World, but it's not all that interesting.

I don't really know what to believe. I've never seen any evidence of those things. And if there are gods, they aren't on my side.

Yeah my world has enough religious beliefs to be getting on with as well. The main one has one God, who resides in Heaven with his angels. Then there's Hell where all the demons live. Good people go to heaven, assholes go to Hell. The agnostics go to purgatory for being dirty little fence sitters.

[Winks]

Okay the last bit I made up. I have no idea where agnostics are supposed to go, just that it involves a crap ton of red tape. Oh, and I haven't seen proof of you before now but that doesn't mean you don't exist if you catch my drift.

Sounds a little too tidy. Things can't be that simple.

[He just chuckles at that last bit.]

Are there no ghosts in your world?

[larker]

Nope, it never really is. If I didn't give the abridged version we'd be here all year.

[Shrugs.]

Oh it has everything. Ghosts, werewolves, vampires, demons, Snooki....Ghosts in my place are ones that didn't go where they're supposed to for whatever dumb schmuck reason entered their head.

[vengefulshades]

Thanks in advance for sparing me.

[Hmm.]

So being a ghost is a choice they make themselves?

[larker]

Sort of. If they don't go into the light then yes, they're gonna be a ghost.

What happens in your world that has you asking twenty questions?

[vengefulshades]

I already told you. You wander. Apparently forever.

[That was how it was shaping up, in any case.]

Though not everyone becomes a ghost. I don't know the rhyme or reason for it.

[larker]

Gotta be honest, that just sounds weird.

And I assume when you say no-one can see you, that involves other ghosts? Harsh. That's like "congrats on living your life sucker, here's to you getting shafted now you're dead".

[vengefulshades]

Other ghosts can see you. But like I said, not everyone becomes one.

My theory is that most people remain ghosts only for about a day after they die. Some, though... get lucky.

Yep. That's definitely convoluted. Think I'll stick with the system from my place. It might have it's issues, like apocalypses and shit, but it doesn't sound half as crazy as yours.

If it makes you feel better, like I said, I think I'm a special case to begin with.
