I was window shopping today and I found...this.

[She turns the camera to show a soft giant robot, like a plushy version of those robots Hiro and Tadashi make. What she really wants to know is if Hiro and Tadashi know about them. Whether they're getting a commission.]

They say it's a bed.

I don't know if I'd want to sleep on it.

I do, actually. Especially after Briggs I guess it was. Lighter auto-mail really does help with that, apparently.

[Aren't we proud? He's not outright yelling. Or punching.]

[Color Winry shocked, Ed. She figured you'd be screaming.

And, oh, that's right, her heavy automail. Makes you stunted.]

Mr. Dominic said the old automail put a lot of strain on your body.

Well, between that and figuring on how to help Al, it's not that surprising that I've grown since. Besides, your auto-mail has never failed on me, Winry. You were doing the best you could with what Granny and that Garfiel were teaching you at the time. It's not your fault.

[At least. In his opinion. Of course others probably still see him as that tiny fourteen year old or possibly younger, but still. He's managing to refrain and hold back from the yelling. So far. He doesn't blame Winry herself for any of it.]

It still put a strain on your body. I'm glad I've learned how to make better automail for you!

Well, yeah. It's way lighter and better then your work when I was first fitted!

And I'll keep improving, too.

Definitely. With the resources here, and people like Hiro and Tadashi working with you.

[Still determined, though a bit deflated. Because she can't take that knowledge home with her.]

No. Well, maybe the heavier auto-mail contributed to it, but that wasn't the only factor to take into consideration. And it isn't like she would have done it intentionally.

That's fair. And yeah, I don't think she'd have done something like that on purpose either. That's... way too diabolical for Winry.

It's....complicated and not something I want to go into over the network if you really want to go into detail on this. But no, she wouldn't. She's doing her best with what she does know. Just happens that auto-mail designed specifically to work in the North with their weather is way lighter than the usual steel models she was making me before.

Nah, man, I wasn't going to pry. And the auto-mail for the north, is that because it's a different metal?

Yeah. That's why I couldn't mess with Buccaneer's arm when he was fighting us initially thinking we were Drachman spies. And why my own auto-mail initially nearly gave me frostbite. Winry would be able to go into more details about the differences though.

You mean, cause you thought it was made of something it wasn't?

[This auto-mail stuff is sounding pretty cool, actually.]

Yeah. I assumed his auto-mail was steel like mine and most other's I'd come across. But there's different metals and components with specialized Northern models I guess. Alchemy doesn't work if I don't get the initial base ingredients figured out right to work with.
