[ This is the third month in a row someone from Kaneki's world leaves. By now he sort of believes the Porter has a lot of fun fucking with him. ]

Touka Kirishima was ported out.

I will be keeping her cat. [ he has no idea what else to say, in all honesty. Complaining that this has been happening every month won't get him anywhere, and he honestly has to wonder if it's a good thing for them to even be in this world in first place. ]

I'm not even sure how to keep a cat like him, though. [ because the cat seems to hate everyone BASICALLY ]

What is strange about the cat? [ He's going to attempt to help with pet care....somehow. ]

He seems to hate everyone, always has. Sometimes he is kind to me, but it depends on his mood or if he's hungry.

He's healthy? [ You should see the shit Skullman is googling right now, Kaneki. ]

[ google ins't a veterinarian, Skullman! ]

I think so. He goes to the vet regularly.

[ he doesn't know any better...but on the other hand he's getting a lot of useless/anecdotal/conflicting information so he's going to stop ]

Then he's just grumpy. Strange animal.

Maybe he needs to see new things. [ Source: he was strange and isolated until he got to see new things. Maybe this cat is the same?? Skullman, no ]

He is very grumpy.

See new things, though? He is a house cat, we felt it was safer. [ knowing Tama, he'd just disappear or attack a dog or something ]

New toys or new people. Maybe.

Though maybe he would scratch them instead. [ After a moment ] I am scratch proof, at least. If you need help. [ Baby's first offer. ]

[ ohhhh. You deserve a star, Skullman. ]

He is very fussy with new people. And old. Being scratch proof is a plus for both of us, it seems.

Have you ever dealt with a cat, before? [ since last time they spoke, he seemed so... new to everything ]

He sounds like a hard animal to take care of.

No. But I can learn. [ He learns fast. ]

[enucleation]

[ Kaneki has a problem which is, he has a horrible diet and his fridge is full of that. So he usually doesn't invite people to his place, not only because of that but also because he is a cannibal and people would probably find it dangerous to go to his place. He can understand that and Kaneki always pays a lot of mind to that sort of thing, honestly.

But... at the same time... ]

Alright. If you want to see Tama, you can come over. He won't be friendly, but maybe you'll be lucky and he isn't in a terrible mood.

Where do you live? [ He will be over there as soon as possible. ]

[ He shows up a while later, but he does show up. He's wrapped in his cloak as usual; he seems rather attached to it, even if it's starting to show a bit of wear.

He looks at the door for a moment like he's not sure what to do with it, then knocks very carefully and precisely, four times. ]

[ when Kaneki hears the knock, he won't take long to open the door; he knows who is expecting so he won't be paranoid about it, and instead opens the door with a smile. ]

Welcome. I hope it wasn't too hard to find the place. [ he is very polite. And of course, steps out of the way so the other could come inside.

And inside the house, it's clean and neat, but clearly with more than just one person living there. The hangers by the door have a pink coat that definitively wouldn't fit him, and there are also slippers with clovers in them - also not his size. There are school books, for a Freshman in Highschool and yes, Kaneki sure lives with a teenage girl.

There is also no fridge in the kitchen, if he bothers to look. ]

[ Skullman observes the house, but he doesn't pay particular attention to anything. It's a private place, after all. ]

It was fine. I had no difficulties. [ His voice has a bit more liveliness to it than the last time they met, though it's not much.

And...he's holding a small package. After a moment's hesitation, he holds it out to Kaneki for him to take.

Inside, if he opens it, is a new copy of the poetry book Kaneki had given him. ]

[ kaneki is actually pretty surprised Skullman gives him a gift. Oh man, how does he react and what does he say, Kaneki isn't used to receive gifts, in all honesty.

But he takes the package nonetheless and of course opens it. Oh. OH. ]

You didn't have to. [ but Kaneki is smiling and he bows his head a little ] Thank you. Did you like the book?

I was given something, so I should give back. I choose to, even if I don't have to. [ It's a simple observation, but there's a bit of warmth in his tone, now. He's pleased by such a simple thing, transference of ownership.

He might have thought that was silly, once, but he doesn't now. ] I did. [ The book is something he continues to read through, and keeps in the sparse space of his room - it's both a gift and a reservoir of information that isn't pure fact. ] It was very enjoyable.

You keep a very clean house. [ Ok, he noticed one thing, at least. ]

Gifts are always a nice thing to share, I think. [ even though kaneki is usually the one giving and is a bit awkward about receiving. He is glad Skullman liked it, though and hear him saying so makes Kaneki smile and not after ]

I have more, if you'd like to borrow some. [ he has... so many books. Skullman will have a lot to choose from, if he does wish to take some.

But ah, the random compliment makes him smile wider ] Thank you. Come on in, Tama is probably in my room.

[ because Tama claimed the bed for himself.

Kaneki heads towards a door down the hallway; his room is clean too, in case the other wishes to take notice of it. There is a desk, covered in books – some are about martial arts, war, fighting, but there are some novels among them like Murakami, Kafka, Hemmingway - and there are also some sketches that he did, of random flowers and bugs.

And of course, there is a huge library of books in shelves, covering one of the room's wall, and also the bed - with Tama the cat sleeping there and completely ignoring whoever just came in. ]

I'll take care of them. [ He'll probably borrow, like, one. He'd feel bad borrowing any more.

He follows Kaneki - the room is just as spotless, some of the books are interesting in an odd way (he likes fighting?) but the drawings are nice. ]

I like your art. [ It's a simple compliment. He's not really experienced enough with art to offer criticism or any kind, but he does like the way Kaneki draws.

But yes...the cat. He walks closer, completely incautious, and reaches out a hand for the cat to inspect. ]

[ kaneki has so many books that he wouldn't mind if Skullman borrowed more than one, to be honest. At the compliment he smiles wider, giving a sort of embarrassed bow because what is a compliment, kaneki doesn't know how to deal with those.

Now, Tama wasn't as welcoming. He doesn't hiss or growl as the other approaches, but the hand? that will be met with a sudden paw trying to claw ]

Ah- Tama. [ kaneki approaches quickly because what the fuck tama ]

[ Skullman has never encountered a cat before, but he has encountered Komasan who is a komainu and therefore a dog and not really the same thing but and so he just...

catches Tama's paw and holds it for a second, staring at the cat. ]

I did not take aggressive action towards you. Why are you doing this? [ He sounds like he's chiding the cat, despite his tone being neutral. It's weirdly comical. ]

[ watch the cat's hair go up and suddenly he is growling and howling and hissing

Kaneki reaches for the cat - and said cat attempts to bite Kaneki's hand that very second. Except it doesn't hurt Kaneki neither breaks his skin, so it's not like the cat can do any damage ]

He doesn't really understand you.

An annoying language barrier. [ He gently swats at the cat, seemingly imitating its actions, but he is very gentle about it. He doesn't want to hurt this strange animal, after all. ]

[ and Tama gets super offended about that like

with his ears pressed back, eventually Tama gets off the bed as he hisses. Kaneki can only roll his eyes, really. tama pls- ]

cats can't speak like we do. In fact, they are a lot less intelligent too.
