Because you can't say, "by the way, I'm in love with you," and it not become weird, no matter your intentions.

If you want to date them, and they say yes - there's a relationship, and that's weird. If you want to date them, and they say no - then you have to deal with your hurt feelings and they have to figure out how to navigate around them, it's weird.

If you say all that and you don't want a relationship, well, what was the point in the first place?

I dunno. I've never told someone I liked them as more than a friend. But I can't see why that would make anyone not want to keep being friends.

So far it seems like 'just be honest and tell them' is very popular. Because if they are really a true friend they won't let extra feelings ruin your friendship!

It helps that the boy I like is one of the people who has the opinion though.

I think that being honest really is the best idea, since something like that won't be a secret forever. Keeping it hidden and letting it come out at a bad time... That might make things more awkward than just telling them.

At least that's what I think.
