[For long moments, Ororo simply stood outside, on House #015's lawn. She took a look around the rooms, sure, and she'd spent some time looking through the file that she'd been given earlier. But ultimately there was something about the house that unsettled her. It didn't feel very lived in, and though it was spacious enough, it felt too small. A little like the walls were closing in on her. So she'd escaped to the front yard for some air, and to gather her thoughts and consider her options.

She wasn't a stranger to being pulled into new worlds. It wasn't something that happened often, but it had happened before, so she wasn't too troubled about that. No, what did trouble her was everything that she'd left behind: the school, the students, her team, her family... For her to be pulled away from all of them, at a time like this, left her frustrated and more than a little annoyed. Outwardly she remained calm, but it was harder to keep the sky from reacting to her building temper. Lightning flashed in an otherwise clear sky, and Ororo couldn't be bothered to do more than frown idly up at the clouds. How fortunate, she thought, that she didn't have to worry about upsetting weathermen in this world.

Eventually, she finally takes action. If this were like any other time she'd visited other dimensions, it stood to reason that perhaps one or two of her teammates were around here. It was just a matter of finding them. She switches on the communicator and, after a beat of hesitation, decides on something short and to the point and, hopefully, wouldn't give too much away about her.]

Good afternoon, all. If you have heard of, or know of the X-Men, I would greatly appreciate it if you would please contact me. Thank you.

[ There. Formal, polite, and straight to the point. But... well, not very friendly. Ororo decides to tack something else on, in a much warmer tone of voice: ]

That being said... My name is Storm, and I am newly arrived. Our handlers have been kind enough to fill me in on the situation, but I must admit that it is still a bit much to take in. Would it be too much to ask for some clarification on the information that we have been spoonfed?

I know of the X-Men but that's because there's been a few of you around. [So not going to mention it's because she's read some of the comics back home.]

[permavoice]

[oftheplains]

A few of us? [Ororo pauses. And maybe mentally going through the roster of X-Men and wondering who of them had ever had an adventure like this.] Could you be more specific, please?

[heartstings]

Julian, Hank and Kurt to name a few that I met. [She was actually pretty close with Julian, he helped her with her powers.]

[oftheplains]

[She was nodding and filing away the names for future reference, at least until she mentions Kurt. That just makes her pause, and then frown a bit.]

Kurt was here?

[Was that even possible? More importantly - was he still around?]

[heartstings]

Yeah. Few others too...I think all of them are gone now. But sometimes people come back, so if you're stuck here long enough... [She trails off because does she really need to continue that sentence?]

[oftheplains]

I can't imagine being 'stuck here' for so long a time. [Her voice takes on a tone of sympathy.]

Were you their friend, Miss?

[heartstings]

I was closer with Julian and Sofia than the others.

[oftheplains]

[The names make her smile, at least. She hasn't seen Sofia in very long, but Julian was at the school and doing as best as he could be, given his circumstances.]

Their close friend, then. How did you meet?

[heartstings]

Uh...it's been a while so I don't really remember. But he helped me with my powers.

[oftheplains]

Did he now? That's good to hear. [Ororo smiles.] He was never my student, but it's nice to know he's offered to help others in that way.

[heartstings]

It helps that I'm, like, super cool.

[A pause.] And I guess having the same powers. [Just no where near as strong as his.]

[oftheplains]

Ah. Telekinesis then, yes? [She regards her curiously.] That must have made training with him easier.

[heartstings]

If by easy you mean dragging me into the sky and expecting me to fly myself, sure. [She says this in a way that suggests it was actually just fine that way, that she'd found it fun.]

[oftheplains]

[It's a good thing the girl lets her tone of voice speak for her, otherwise Ororo would have been pretty concerned! As it is, she chuckles quietly.] That is one way to learn things, yes.

You fly, then? [Ororo says, warmly. She likes fliers. She ends up working with them every now and then, and it's always fun.]

[heartstings]

[To make it worse Kenzi was physically six at the time. Time shenanigans are fun like that.]

Everyone else suggested being pushed off a high place. [People are nuts.]

Yup. Certainly beats walking and you never have to worry about traffic.

[oftheplains]

Indeed. I'm quite fond of it myself, and there are few things I enjoy more. Flying is a gift. [A beat, and then, smiling:] Especially when you have friends who like to suggest pushing you off high places.

[heartstings]

It's pretty neat to see the world from a different view, yeah. And yeah, comes in real useful there.
