[The camera cuts in on a close-up - a round face, piercing blue eyes with no clear pupils behind rimless glasses perched atop a snub nose, broad pointed ears sticking out chin-length black hair, fills the field of view, scrunched up in a look of the sort of concentration you'd expect from someone disarming a bomb.] What does that light- broadcasting? Oh, seven hells...

[The face scrambles back, revealing a person standing maybe three feet tall, dressed in a wizardly-looking sort of robe. They wave to the camera, smiling nervously.] Ah, hello! Sorry about that - devices like this aren't common where I come from, and the ones there are tend to be... hazardous, in one way or another. [If Allagan technology isn't malfunctioning from millenia without maintenance, it's functioning perfectly and trying to kill you.]

Anyhow! Malms Vovokosi, battle thaumaturge and adventurer, at your service. [He bows to the camera.] Now, since the Grand Company that brought us here has been so kind as to arrange employment already, I find I have a favor to ask. Does anyone play Illusion: The Gathering? I feel I should have some idea as to what the wares I'm to be selling are.

With the Allagans, even riding their elevators is a proposal fraught with danger. [Seriously, he's had Allagan elevators try and kill him on at least three separate occasions. But then, what would you expect from a civilization that would build a moon and imprison arguably the most powerful entity in the world inside it, in order to use them as a power converter?]

Are you telling me to be prepared for my life to be eventful here, or are you attempting to make some sort of veiled threat?

The former, not the latter. I'm not impolite enough to threaten someone I've only just met. I don't make threats without basis. [ But he is totally willing to threaten people if he doesn't like them! ]

But we've had a very eventful year. It's only likely to be more...interesting, as time passes. Peaceful life doesn't seem to come easily here.

Well. Glad to see that the gods are consistent in the sort of life they have in mind for me, if that's the case. 'Interesting' describes the last several years of my life rather nicely, if you have a taste for understatement.

Ah, so you've had that kind of life, I see. Well, you should fit right in. Do you have any experience with wars and politically delicate situations, by any chance?

I was in the middle of trying to bring the end to a thousand-year war between men and dragons before I was brought here. Hopefully my friends will be able to finish the task without my presence...
