[ She's been fairly quiet on the network after her conversation with the other Eobard. And fairly scarce in and around Heropa. There's still things she's processing from the world turning upside down last month. And things that she's avoiding. ]

What do you do when you start to feel homesick? Have you felt homesick while here? I can't imagine anyone hasn't, but stranger things have happened. None of us can choose to go home, and it's not like I can go visit this world's version of my home because it doesn't seem to exist here.

I've experienced that too. So I know what you mean.

Got any good answers on how to cope yet?

A few people are convinced that alcohol is the secret. But general consensus seems to be 'stay busy.'

That's good advice. Staying busy, that is.

But there's always another option: embrace it. Just spend a little time thinking about home, allowing yourself to feel whatever way you do. It's not a bad thing, missing someone or something, or being sad that they're not around. It just means you care.

Embracing the feeling seems like a slippery slope. I haven't had a lot of success with it in the past. Besides, I'm pretty sure such a thing goes against my WASP upbringing.

That's too bad. I haven't done too bad with it as of late, but it wasn't always like that. So I know what you mean.
Maybe keeping busy is the best advice for you, then. A new hobby you'd like to take up, for instance?

I may just take up tinkering in the lab again. It's been a while, and it's something of my job back home that I've missed.

But a new hobby wouldn't be a bad idea.

I hear collecting stamps is always en vogue.

What was your job back home?

I'm going to need a source on that.

It's hard to accurately describe? Something along the lines of being part of a privately-funded scientific research team. With a side of being something of a personal physician.

What, you don't take my word for it? That's harsh. I never lie.

So kind of like R&D work? Are you an engineer, or do you have another field of expertise? Or fields?

Trust but verify, I believe is the saying.

Bio-engineering, biochemistry, genetics. Passable knowledge of physics? The facility where I work once had a particle accelerator.

Interesting. All of that. Nuclear physics, biochemistry and bio-engineering myself. Among other fields, to varying degrees of interest.
What do you do here?

And sharing two fields of expertise. It's remarkable.

Here? Genetic counseling. Truthfully, I've gone from hating it to being indifferent. Not to the patients, of course. It's just not my area of interest, really. What do you do here?

I know. Kind of nice having something in common, though. And we might not be too far apart in genetics either. I actually worked as a geneticist when I first got here.

Not anymore, though. I work at StarkTech as a developer now.

It is nice. It's not often I meet someone in the same fields outside of a lab setting.

That makes you the third person I've met that works there? Not counting Cisco. He worked there before he was ported out.

Or science conventions. Guess today's a day for pleasant surprises.

Never met him. He must've left before I joined in.
What about you? Never thought about getting a job there too?

I guess I'm not entirely sure what StarkTech does? Or what it doesn't do. I haven't really stretched my wings here, you could probably say.

A little of everything, honestly. From stuff like kitchen appliances to, say... chemical engineering. Currently I'm working on a project related to medicine, for instance. But you can find just about anything there, so long as it's related to the latest scientific and technological advancements.

Okay, I think those last four words are the clincher. Might as well be a big flashing neon sign. Because where I work back home? STAR Labs. Scientific and Technological Advanced Research Labs.

Wow, that's uncanny. And a sign, if you ask me.
In all seriousness though, if you ever feel like it, come by StarkTech. If you like what you see, and I like what I see in you, I can try and put in a good word for you with Tony. Not that you'd need it— he's never one to turn down a talented genius.

I don't usually believe in signs, but that one might make me start.

I know in my case, it's more often a 'lack of social interaction' thing. I'm too used to being around people who already know me. Though it could also be a scientist thing or a genius thing. Or all three.
