[ She's been fairly quiet on the network after her conversation with the other Eobard. And fairly scarce in and around Heropa. There's still things she's processing from the world turning upside down last month. And things that she's avoiding. ]

What do you do when you start to feel homesick? Have you felt homesick while here? I can't imagine anyone hasn't, but stranger things have happened. None of us can choose to go home, and it's not like I can go visit this world's version of my home because it doesn't seem to exist here.

Maybe, maybe not. I think that kind of dissatisfaction is part of the human condition, personally. Some people can be totally zen about it, never wanting anything better or missing the things they've lost, but the rest of us have needs and wants and attachments, and that isn't so easy to give up.

My two cents, anyway. Take it with a grain of salt! Me, I used to rob jewelry stores when I got bored, so my perspective's suspect anyway.

I don't think you're off-base here, though. Seems like there are people out there who can make themselves into islands and just float. The rest of us sink without tethers.

Most islands started off as volcanoes, to stretch a metaphor. I don't think they're all that happy deep down. Or the ones that are have bigger issues.

They probably aren't. Happy, I mean. They might convince themselves that they are, but that's no different from any other self-delusion a person can suffer.

It's not the worst kind of delusion, if you have to pick one, but yeah.

This is getting awfully maudlin.

It is, isn't it? I guess it's a maudlin topic, but there isn't a need to necessarily dwell on that.

Here's a cheerier thought. Did you know there's an entire subculture of people who put ducks in fancy dresses?

Wow. I would ask why, but I'm pretty sure the answer to that is "because they can."
