[ it's boring normal chalk, the only thing 'magical' about it is that the Doctor can always pull chalk out of his pocket. ]

How is that magical, then? Are not these supposed gifts meant to be magical in nature? They simply gave you chalk?

[ Why didn't he get something as non-magical as that? Cullen wants a refund. ]

Well it's not magical to begin with. They gave me the ability to pull chalk out of whatever pocket's on my clothes, which I think is less magic and more genetically modifying my DNA so that I'd be able to have limited access to the chalk dimension.

[ his voice trails off as he says the words "chalk dimension" because wow, that's stupid. ]

It's a stupid theory, but it's a theory.

[ He was with him up until "genetically modified" and "DNA" and "chalk dimension." All he can do is hazard a guess at translation. ]

You are saying you can summon chalk the way a mage can summon a demon?

Maybe? [ he has no idea how demons work. ] Can you pull demons out of your pockets?

I am not a mage. I cannot summon demons.

And I surely hope that they never acquire the ability to pull them from pockets.

Well summoning demons isn't a thing in my world to begin with, so I was hoping you'd be able to explain the whole demon thing.

[stubble]

In my world, they are corrupted spirits that seek to enter the world and prey on the living. They are quite powerful. Some mages, arrogant and foolish, believe that they can control them and so summon them in an attempt to bargain or contain them. This practice typically ends in possession and a great deal of bloodshed and pain for innocent people.

[helpline]

Huh.

Well, my chalk can't possess anybody.

[stubble]

Then I suppose there's nothing to worry about there.

Nope! It's just perfectly normal, ordinary boring chalk.
