does anyone know how to deregister?

I don't mean I want to turn vigilante, or go the other way. And I don't want to go AWOL. I know about those. I just made a mistake, I know that now. I made a mistake and I want to undo it.

there has to be a form to fill out. something.

Please. Anything could help.

Look, would you like to talk? In person?

Well, if you ever change your mind, I'm available to talk.

Because it's bloody wretched, what you're going through right now. And I'd like to help if I can.

Of course. How could you not go through it? You get here, and you've suddenly got to declare yourself loyal to some people who hardly seem like they deserve loyalty...

Not right away. I avoided the Swear-Ins for a month or so.

I ended up in a bit of a dangerous position. I felt that I needed the help.

No. The person I was afraid of turned out not to be an enemy at all.

Don't know. Never done it.

[ Kitty's eyes narrow very slightly. But, well...That sounds more like a mistake than it does shaming or passive-aggression. Even if they had had a conversation about how Kitty didn't know the procedure for deregistering...But this person sounds sweet and clueless, not shame-y. ]

Because I realized the good it was possible to do, being registered. Being registered gets me money, which I can turn around and use as I see fit. Which means giving it to people who need it - and I certainly am NOT sad to take money from the government's warmaking budget and give it to the hungry. And it also means I've got more of a voice. And I think people ought to listen to what I've got to say, so I want to use that voice.

Yeah. I'd sooner not do THAT, though.

Running for office? Can you think of anything worse?

Well, yeah. Obviously. Except an elected official's got to answer to the people who voted for her, right?
