On my arrival, I asked myself two questions likely shared by others;

How are our worlds connected?

And whence came the power to steal us outside of time?

You have probably waited patiently for an answer to these questions; or took it upon yourself in desparation to find answers. Do you consider that it is very, very probable the porter has linked hundreds of worlds though they exist leagues and years apart?

Let me conclude. I expect all of our worlds are linked together by some means. Shall there not exist people who believe the same as me?

And I would also like to hear about your systems of magic, if you can graciously spare the time.

[That---is a bit too technical for her. She really only understood it when he said it's something like a game.]

Oh I understand now!! So it's like one of those RPG magic things then! Would you be able to show me sometime that's so cool!!

I suppose I could. But how old are you, exactly? Magic is not a form of entertainment.

[He would give magic shows to young children, however. Teenagers are right out.]

I don't see how age has to do with anything but I'm 17.

And I guess not, I just haven't seen that kind of magic in real life before

Curiosity, then. That shall be solved easily enough.

[How can he decry that motive? All the child asking is to watch and learn. And that is something towards which he can lend some kindness. The better part of the next three minutes are given to finding an appropriate subject: the ribbon plant that is presented in the video, with the long, slender leaves arching over the edge of the table. But half of it is given to wilting and decay, and it plainly is in the process of dying.

Out of sight he moves his fingers; the plant is bathed in light and those leaves are filled with life. It fills him with muddling thoughts about how pathetic it is he can heal plants but not people. He listens in some silence before switching off the feed to send a message.]

Does that answer your questions?

[When the feed turns on the only thing she sees is a wilted plant which seems sort of strange to her; most of the magic tricks people have done in her world involve a hat, box, or even people, but never a plant. Nevertheless, she waits in bated anticipation.

Once she notices a sheen of light followed by the plant gaining back its color, she perks up; if only her audio/video was on, she could really show her enthusiasm!]

Oh my god, that was so cool!! So you're able to heal anything through your world's magic? Would I be able to learn that one day?!

I would not know; the Porter seems to enjoy interfering the abilities of most. But permit me to answer your question. This magic has the power to restore health to organic life. Alas! I would attept to teach its secrets to others, but I am afraid it might not be possible.

Aw, I'm guessing that you were able to teach your magic to people from where you're from?
And organic life as in plants, right?

[curada]

Plants, human beings and other living organisms, yes. Regardless, in answer to your first question, I did lecture my subordinates - although some of my work in the field is experimental and quite exclusive.

[tridentity]

Experimental? Your magic seems perfect from what I can see!

[curada]

Thank you. Though I'm not speaking of the particular kind of magic you just witnessed. I developed a related branch that works quite differently - and I'm quite honestly surprised it seems to work here at all. But I take it such skills are not common where you come from?

[tridentity]

Not at all actually. My world is ordinary compared to the worlds I heard other people came from. Do people in your world have skills like that?

[curada]

Some, yes, with training. And until recently, such training was afforded to those of sufficient wealth.

[Which is getting into politics. So no.]

I imagine coming to this world was a surprise for you, then?

[tridentity]

Well, not as much as it could be?

[If she had gotten a different set of abilities it would amp her surprise up tenfold, but alas that is not her fate.]

The atmosphere and different abilities were definitely a surprise, but the powers I got is somewhat similar to what I could do back home so that was kind of disappointing.

[curada]

I see. And what could you do back home, exactly?

[tridentity]

Well, back home I could kind of fight?

[Somewhat of an understatement since she was the top delinquent back then.]

So basically just like enhanced fighting abilities and such.

[curada]

[There are two tactics a real warrior needs: frontal assault, and DEATH BY FRONTAL ASSAULT.]

Oh. Not entirely unappropriate.

Though it surprises me how accurate our benefactor is being. We could have ended up with anything, honestly.

I would have preferred anything other than what I got.

You didn't want any new powers?

[curada]

No. It's fortunate I was handed powers with which I am familiar; it's more helpful to others that way.

How useful is that healing power anyway?
