I'm learning of the social constructs of this world and what people do when they decide they like someone enough to color their interactions with romantic overtures. It seems quite popular here and my curiosity begged to be sated.

This is done more out of curiosity and research rather than matters of my own heart. [ Sort of... ] There are a great many things here that are not available to me back home, so I simply sought ideals that would differ from my own. Although for the most part I have gotten rather conventional responses. The more things change, the more they stay the same, I suppose.

No, I don't think so. From the programs I've seen there are many elements of life that are unrealistically portrayed. Engaging in conversations opens up more avenues. I prefer that line.
