Criminals. I need criminals.

[A pause as his brain is working too fast for his mouth to catch up.]

I need to know any ImPorts who have a criminal history, recent or otherwise. Anyone who's had a history of violence, and/or theft.

[ because it did come across as a little bit threatening and john would prefer them to face punishment. ]

Is there anything else you need to know? Other than a name and a face? Because whoever this is, they are good at hiding their tracks. We couldn't find anything at the crime scene. No DNA, no fingerprints. It was like no one was there.

Name and face is how it works. I can look over the scene if'n ya want. Or outside it, but trails go cold fast and if it has, then name and face is the only way ta be sure of finding 'em.

I could try, I guess. She killed at her place?

That's right. She was struck from behind, then suffocated. She never got a look at her attacker.

How'd you figure that out?

Sabriel spoke to her. Sally Cunliffe, I mean. It's extremely difficult to detect signs of asphyxiation and the coroner may not have found enough medical evidence to suggest foul play, which is why her cause of death was ruled a heart attack.

Not hard to find bruising from being struck from behind, though. Shouldn't be.

[Unless they assumed the bruising was from her landing on her back when the heart attack hit. Assuming she did land on her back...]

Was she found lyin' on her back or front?

Mm, that's what I thought, but there was nothing noted in the coroner's report. She was found on her back.

Then she got laid on her back after ta make it look like the bruising came from the fall.

[Frustrating, but whoever did this knew what they were doing.]

And no signs of forced entry, I'm assuming. Fine. I'll come over and look. See if there's anything to sniff out. When can I come?

[He was a hunter and tracker back before the outbreak and he'd been employing those skills damn near constantly since. He might not have been a detective, but he knew what he was on about when it came to figuring out how someone or something died. But having someone recognize that? That was new. He was used to getting discounted as a dumb hick by most people who didn't know him.]
