008 ✿ Video
I'm curious.
[ Raina is seated in her living room, legs tucked up beneath her on the couch. It's a relaxed and casual position, best suited for a relaxed and casual conversation. ]
So many people come and go here. There are very few of us who have been static for years. Even fewer who have been here since the beginning. But the longer you're here, the more losses you tend to face. And the more time that passes, the more everyone else forgets about some of those people who were once here. So I'd like to hear stories of friends who have gone, lovers who have vanished, and people you'll never forget. The only way we can keep memories alive is to share them. I mean, who knows when you or I could become nothing more than a memory...and the least we can do is honor those memories by talking about them.
[ She sits up slowly, draping her arm over her knees. ]
But more than all of that, and perhaps a more relevant question to the newer arrivals -- if you had the opportunity to visit a lost friend's world just to see them again, would you? Even knowing that there's a chance they might not remember you? It is a painful thing to be forgotten, but perhaps there could be a comfort in seeing them alive and happy once again -- a sense of closure that we so seldom receive in this world. Or as always, perhaps it's best to leave well enough alone. I'm just interested to hear where everyone falls in their opinions on the matter.

Re: [voice]
[When these Fates could even clip the wings of deities and universal constants, what else was there to do to combat it? And who could say whether any of them would be properly Ported back home, if that happened.]
[Oh well. No use worrying over it.] Flowers... That's a nice sentiment, for sure. But memorials to the dead are made for the sake of the living, after all. If it brings you even a little happiness, it's well worth it, even if it won't last forever. Same as life.
[Or entire universes.]
[voice]
[ And that is something Raina is very keen on investigating. Except the only way to really investigate is to live here well into ol age. ]
As for Atropos, I'm not sure if she was defeated or not. If Lachesis left the world to her sister to destroy or if she defeated her and pulled everyone here to a sanctuary. Not that people have not risen from the dead and ported in here before. But I'd like to hope she doesn't have the same investment in destroying this world -- whatever that investment had been for the previous one.
Re: [voice]
[He hums in thought] The most obvious answer would be the Porter, 'course. But I sorta doubt that... A goddess of destruction wanting something that creates- uh, in a certain sense- doesn't make much sense.
[But then again, context was everything. Without knowing more about them, it could really be anything. He had a lot of digging up to do.] The Porter here... Have any of the old Cityzens managed to look at it enough to tell whether it's different at all from the original one?
[If he could just sneak in to examine it...]
[voice]
[ She'd rather retain her good looks forever, thank you very much! ]
The porter is very heavily guarded. There are some older imPorts who did get to meet with it at one point. A man named Loki comes to mind. But when he met with it, he told me it didn't tell him anything at all. And it's seemed rather uninterested in speaking to any imPort ever since.
[voice]
[Unfortunately for Duo, we are past that hill 8(]
That's...... interesting. Speaking of Mr. Nanite, I think he said something similar. I guess if anyone would be able to figure out, it'd be him anyway. Tch.
[Not that he cared how heavily guarded it was. He was sure, eventually, he could find a way in. No point though, if nothing could be done with it.]
[Good thing you have an operative here who's done it before, huh, Raina?]
[voice]
[ Raina can think of a few people that applies to. And most prominently is Mitchell Hundred, the machine of a politician. But also maybe Tony Stark and his machinery.
He has been here the longest and is rather adept at nanotechnology... ]
Re: [voice]
[As if that clarifies it further. Is he being deliberately vague? You bet. Sarcastic? Always.]
Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me, what you said. That it's not being cooperative. Nothing to be done for it, really, except to remember the ones who have gone and hope we're next.
...Or not, if that's more your speed.
[voice]
Re: [voice]
[Pause] I was in the middle of something. I'm certainly in a more frustrating spot than I was the last time.
[And besides that- he had a lot worth staying for the last time. To a certain point. Now...] Guess I haven't found my anchor yet, no.
[voice]
Re: [voice]
It's more the ones that leave you behind, ain't it?
[He huffs out a breath] Don't I know it. Luckily, I have my own ways of remembering people- like your flowers.
[Or he did, before he cut it off.]
[voice]
[ Teasing. But like....you never know. ]
Re: [voice]
[Mass murderer, maybe, but hey. War.]
[voice]
Re: [voice]
[voice]
Of course, you probably wouldn't be. Their basis for putting imPorts on watch seems to be strange and inconsistent given the list that dropped a month or so ago.
Re: [voice]
...Bureaucracy, probably. My experience, these places don't really care about the people that are actually dangerous, just the ones that bother them. And they don't lift a finger to help.
[He snorts, thinking back to Iron Bot.]
--Ah, I wouldn't know anything about that, though. I'm just a priest. [His voice is playful, but there's something else behind it.]
[voice]
[ A priest with an odd sense of humor and who seems somewhat violent. But hey, even priests don't have to be boring. ]
Well, my fiance and I will need someone to marry us down the line. Maybe you could do that if you're still here. As part of your priestly duty.
Re: [voice]
Haha, well, I suppose I could... You're Catholic, huh? Have I maybe seen you around church anywhere?
[Whooo are yoooou]
[voice]
[voice]
...
Obviously.
[voice]
[voice]
[He gives a thoughtful pause. You don't know the half of it, sister.]
You're right about that. Although I suppose most simply suppose that Lachesis grows bored of you. What do you think?
[voice]
[voice]
I'm never boring.
