[002] // VIDEO
For all of you new arrivals and even for some of the older ones, I have a bit of a public service announcement if you will.
[ It's Maeve's voice, but the video is focused on her walking through imPort housing unit Nonah #005. The house is in various states of pet disarray -- shredded furniture, curtains, and carpeting come into view. There is pet fur all over that roombas can only do so much about. And there are a large variety of toys strewn out across the floor. The video focuses on the six cats in the room -- a calico, a white bengal, a munchkin, a havana, and two indeterminable breeds. ]
Think twice about getting a pet in this world. I know it may seem like a fine idea at the time, but this is the sort of thing you leave behind. And what becomes of these poor animals? How many of them wind up displaced because imPorts went back to their homes? We are temporary in this world. These creatures are permanent.
[ Maeve moves on from the room, heading out the sliding glass doors to the koi pond, focusing in on it. The pond is clean and well kept, but it's still more animals that are here that need to be tended to. ]
I had the misfortune of inheriting all of this after the port out of my housemates.
[ Going back inside, Maeve heads upstairs and pushes open a door in order to showcase a fish tank with a red-tailed shark and three imProcreats -- a dragprawn, a lamabama, and a blickablake. These things are essentially pokemon without the demands of having to be fed. ]
If anyone was friends with the Iron Bull, Ken Amada, Kaneda or Tetsuo and wants to adopt any of them, it would be greatly appreciated. Hell, even if you weren't friends and can offer them the attention they deserve, then take them. I'm keeping them fed and cleaning up after them, but I don't have time for much else beyond that. I'm a busy woman, after all.
[ Maeve leaves, heading to her own room and closing the door behind her to turn the video to herself. ]
To end this on a more upbeat note, I work as a manager at the bar Merlotte's in De Chima. As a warm welcome on behalf of new imPort ambassador Sam Merlotte, I'd like to offer any new arrivals a drink on the house. But if you're an older imPort and you sweet talk me well enough, I might consider offering you a drink on me.

[VIDEO] /before he sees him posted below 8|
Oh, but I might bring someone else who's interested, if that's okay. Just as long as he picks last.
[For some reason, he's grinning really smugly at that.]
[VIDEO] imProcreats bring all the boys to the yard
[VIDEO > ACTION] and then they bicker nonstop
Alright, smell ya later, lady! [He gives a little two-fingered salute before ending the feed.]
---
[As promised, not too much later, an enormous bird and a dragon swoop overhead of Maeve's residence, landing outside on the sidewalk. Two young men dismount from the bird and dragon, then each holds a ball out where the creatures disappear into, each in a mass of light.]
[Blue is talking loudly to the other as he approaches the door and gives it a knock, leaning impatiently against the doorframe.]
"--and that little brat of a Gym Leader wasn't even there! The whole tower was just a museum and shops instead, can you believe it!? The food was still the best though, you should really go sometime.--"

a Pokémonan animal or two home, he seems to have brought one of his own with him. Pikachu's opinion will (as always) be of very high importance regarding this matter - and, besides, Red never leaves the house without his little yellow companion.[As for Blue's chattering, well. There is really no way of telling whether or not Red is even listening to a word the man says - his expression won't betray him one way over the other.]
no subject
Come on in, boys. Do you want something to drink? Coffee, tea, soda? Beer? You're of the legal age, aren't you?
[ But probably not of legal maturity. ]
no subject
[Blue is finally, perhaps mercifully cut off by Maeve opening the door, and immediately grins and gives a quick salute.] Yo! I'm Blue. This is Red-- [He gestures to the taller man next to him- chances were he wasn't going to introduce himself-] uh, and I'm good, really.
[Blue steps inside, stopping to nudge off his sneakers by the door and taking a quick glance around.] So you said all these animals and Pokémon... they were left behind by people? [His brow furrows a little. No one had ever mentioned anything about people vanishing.]
no subject
he's gotta be good for something, right?), but he'll be listening intently for the woman's answers (he tries not to ignore anyone else but Blue when they're talking) - especially those regarding the animals they're here to see.]no subject
Good to meet you both.
[ She starts to lead the way up the stairs toward the room where the imProcreats are waiting. ]
They were. This was once a house full of three rather rowdy boys and one strange giant bull man. I swore there was never a truly peaceful moment in this place. And then one day, things got rather quiet. Three of the four had vanished. And only a few weeks later, the last one vanished as well.
[ Maeve opens the door to Tetsuo's room, gesturing toward the imProcreats that are hanging about. ]
He loved that tiger most especially. It's name is Fubuki. So I do hope whoever takes it will treat it the way he would have treated it.
[ Gesturing toward the llama/sheep looking one. ]
That one is Omurice.
[ And then toward the dragon/shrimp thing. ]
And that one is Ebi.

outside of Origins anyway; it's probably better not to ask.][Blue is the one who's not really listening now; as soon as he sees the imPocreates, he's grinning to himself, elbows Red in the arm.] What'd I tell you? Mareep, right? [He points to the sheep. His attention was mostly focused, though, on that tiger. When he first watched the video, that was the one that had stuck in his mind the most.]
So they had nicknames already, huh? [He speaks up, shrugs.] Well, fine by me. I don't mind whatever they like to be called. Hey, Fubuyuki! [Blue approaches the new creature with his hands in his pockets- these were tame Pokémon, right? So probably, he could approach without much worry.] I'm Blue. I'm a trainer- yanno what that is? [He crouches and holds a spare Pokeball out for it to sniff.]
no subject
[Hey, there. I'm Red.
[No response. The man's brow wrinkles a bit and he tilts his head to the side, trying to transmit another message.
[Can you hear me? No dice. Omurice simply blinks back up at him, nudges his hand for another pet. Red repeats this process with the dragon/shrimp-like Pokémon, and even the tiger (though he doesn't try to interrupt Blue's interaction with it). And, much to his disappointment, not one of them responds.]
They're not talking.
[He says this to no one in particular, but looks to Blue with a slightly deflated expression, then to Maeve. This is the first time his power hasn't worked. Maybe it's because these things aren't real Pokémon or animals? Well, either way, he'll continue to scratch affectionately at the sheep, as well as give the shrimp a few adoring pats. He'd gone his whole life before this without talking to his Pokémon. He knows for a fact that he can bond with them anyway.]
lets go to retcon city~~
Maeve frowns and then glances over at Red after his comment. ]
Disappointing, but not surprising. They aren't alive per se. Artificial Intelligence, created in a lab by an organization that has been giving us problems as of late. I believe the imProcreats are fine, though. They were a prototype for them to create something far more sinister.
[ But that's not what these boys are interested in. They're likely not even paying much mind as they study the creatures. ]
But they still do make excellent companions.
i'm on the road to viridian ciiityyy
[He pulls out a small red tablet device, pointing it towards Fubuki to take a picture. Might as well record some new dex data.] Anyway, I'm more interested in what abilities they have, anyway. You know their Types? Any special elemental abilities they have?
--Oi, Red, that's right. You pick last you know, so don't get any ideas if that's the one she wants. [He shoots the other boy a nasty grin.]
no subject
[As for Blue's nasty grin, Red shrugs it off just as easily as always, turning his attention now to the ice tiger. Better not get too close to that one - the poor thing had been abandoned by its trainer. No wonder it was so reluctant. But, even as he keeps his distance, Red will hold out a hand for the creature - just an offering should it be interested in inspecting the man further.]
no subject
[ Fubuki inspects Red, but seems to treat him the same -- wary and uncertain, but not attacking. ]
I can't say that I've familiarized myself with the creatures personally. But...
[ She reaches into her purse, pulling out a half-crumpled pamphlet that explains the imProcreat battle and the different types from that Swear In. ]
I found this when I was cleaning. Thought it might interest the both of you. There are more out there. Perhaps you'd be able to collect them all.
[ And in that pamphlet, this information is found. Go on, Pokemon trainers, and hunt these down! ]
no subject
[Blue takes the pamphlet from Maeve, holding it between himself and Red so that they could both read- and as he did, it was like his eyes lit up. His expression might remind her of something like the glee of a kid on the heels of an adventure, and he looks up to Red with a grinning expression of challenge.]
[Surely, they were thinking the same thing, right?]
Race you to 'em.
[He glances up to Maeve, waving the pamphlet.] Um, can I keep this? Do you know where we can find the rest of these Poké-- imPocreats?
no subject
[He gives Blue one short, firm nod, then turns back to face Maeve, awaiting her answer as well.]
no subject
[ She waves her hand to gesture the pamphlet away. It's all theirs. Good luck hunting them down, you crazy kids! The question earns a purse of her lips in thought. ]
I haven't a clue where you might find them. But if you ask around the network, perhaps there's someone who knows? I believe the people who won their battles got to keep their imProcreats. So if you can find people who are still here from that time and if they participated in those battles, you might have a lead toward their imProcreat.
no subject
So then... They're all trained already? [Blue deflates a little. Drat, that meant there were none that were wild to catch. Although, if others had been unknowingly abandoned by port-outs the way these ones were...]
[He turns and gives a little nod to Red.] We should find out more anyway, I guess. We can at least get dex data.
[He looks back at the three Impocreats in the room, and frowns. That one that shied away from them, Fubuki... He wonders why it was so shy of them. Had it been mistreated, or something? It looked strong, especially compared to the docile Mareep-looking Pokémon.] The Ice-type... Is there a reason why it seems so wary of us? [A difficult frown sits on his lips, but only Red might know why it had caught him in such a mood.]
no subject
[Well. If he couldn't speak with it using his mind, maybe some actually words would do. His voice comes out soft, tender toward the little creature.]
Hey, Fubuki...
no subject
[ Maeve answers, glancing toward the tiger. ]
They went everywhere together. They were practically inseparable. And I imagine she is rather lonely without him. She actually would have attacked us upon entry had she not recognized me.
[ Which isn't entirely the truth. Maeve had to speak to Fubuki's coding to prevent her from lashing out at the intruders in Tetsuo's shop. ]
To her, you're strangers. And I thought perhaps she might warm up to you, seeing how much you both care about these creatures. But perhaps her grief runs deeper into her programming?
no subject
[He also knew that Pokémon that had been abandoned by their trainers often were very difficult to get to trust humans again, not that it could often be blamed, but that didn't mean he was just going to give up. Looking to Maeve, he can't say anything with regards to programming, but...] What can we do? Just leaving her alone in the meantime doesn't seem right.
[He glances over to Omurice and Ebi. Well, Sabriel was taking one and Red, the other, so it was just Fubuki they would have to worry about.] These two seem okay with us, at least. Hey, Red, which one are you taking home?
no subject
Are there more?
[He turns to Maeve with this question. He remembers some mention of cats, and wasn't she looking to get rid of some fish as well? To clarify, he adds:]
Animals.
no subject
[ Maeve suggests. ]
Perhaps it's simply a matter of earning her trust? She cannot stay here waiting for someone who does not seem to be returning. And she would have a far better home with the two of you.
[ She glances toward the two boys, hopeful that they won't simply give up just because Fubuki is a bit wary now. Sometimes building those relationships takes time, but the end result is very rewarding.
It's Red's question that has Maeve turning a bit more upbeat. ]
Ah, yes. There are quite a few. If you're interested in meeting those. They may not be Pokemon, but they would probably make suitable friends.
no subject
[He turns to Red and Maeve] Alright, I guess we better go see the rest of those animals so Red can adopt them all. [He gives a disgusted snort, even though he's smirking.]
