Greetings.
[ Again Thrawn is calmly seated in that same front room he has been in for all of his public posts. ]
It was recently told to me that the truth has merit. It has also been said that the galaxy that many of those of us, including General Grievous and the varying Jedi represented here, come from has seen a great deal of war. So to clear away any lingering haze of misunderstanding, or mistrust perhaps it is better to explain from neutral standpoint.
First please be aware that I am no Jedi, nor affiliated with the Republic. For me, all of this is history. But I have an interest in the Clone War era…and I rather mislike the use of noncombatants as ditractions.
The war's name is derived from the clone troopers utilized by the Republic against that of the battle droid forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The respective armies that each composed the Army of the Republic and the Separatist Droid Army. Beginning with the First Battle of Geonosis, the conflict quickly spread throughout the galaxy with both sides scoring significant victories over the other. At different times during the war, it seemed that either side was likely to triumph.
As the Clone War engulfed many worlds across the galaxy, the Jedi relinquished their traditional roles as peacekeepers, in favor of military commands within the Army of the Republic. Knights and Masters accepted the new rank of Jedi General. I personally find a deep flaw in this as they were niether trained for warfare nor prepared to handle the consequences of command.
The next two years of the war saw both sides skirmish with and raid each other, with worlds such as Ryloth, Felucia, Malastare, and Kamino becoming flashpoints. During this time, the Separatists resorted to varied forms of warfare, developing weapons like the twin ion cannons of the battleship Malevolence and a weaponized variant of the Blue Shadow Virus, all in order to impair the Republic war machine.
By the war's third and final year, the Republic drove the Separatists into redoubts within the Outer Rim Territories, initiating a campaign that was termed the Outer Rim Sieges. In an effort to reverse the course of the war, Grievous launched a massive strike on Coruscant through the Deep Core. Much of the Confederate fleet was lost in this assault along with, Head of State Count Dooku. The Confederacy would quickly lose its core leadership in quick succession, with Grevious subsequently falling in battle during the Battle of Utapau, and the Separatist Council being massacred on Mustafar. This, coupled with the deactivation of the droid army, lead to the capitulation of the Confederacy and with it, an end to the war.
It has been spoken of elsewhere that being brought to this "earth" is what amounts to another chance. Perhaps it is some twist of fate that so many of us are here. Because in that respect it is another chance. It is another chance to fight the ghost of a war that has no place here and is long since over.
Thank you for your time.
((OOC: Since Kalee plays a big part of Thrawn's career in Heir to the Empire for original Thrawn books I really wanted to do a thing with it. Cut lots out but overview lifted straight from the wiki. ))
