♕ video; three; an ambassador speaks
[ This post goes out just prior to midday. If the drama of the past few days with her own world has affected her, it's hard to tell for anyone who's not terribly familiar with her. There's a slight edge to the set of her jaw, but her make up and her hair and her clothes are impeccable as ever as she clicks the video on, sitting in the Ambassador's office of Maurtia Falls. Her smile is polite and friendly, but those who have seen how bright and personal it can be might notice the restraint behind it. ]
Hello. For those who don't know me, I am Ambassador Amidala, recently elected to that position as the representative of Maurtia Falls for the Import population. I wanted to extend my sincere thanks to all who voted, for me or any of the other candidates. To be involved in your government is important, and I hope I will do the office justice for you all.
That said, there are a few things I wish to speak about.
I was elected because I wish to open communication between people, because I advocate transparency in government, and because I value people's input into their governance.
As such, the Maurtia Fall's Ambassador Office is open as of today for business. Official hours will be from 9 am until 7 pm, but should you ever require an appointment outside of those hours you need only contact me at this number. I will make sure that there is a way we can meet outside of those hours if it is needed.
We are currently in a time fraught with urgency and difficulty. Native opinion of our population has been damaged, and we must work with them to restore their faith in our ability to help. We must work with each other across cities and have faith in each other, as well.
The Inauguration will be held on the 16th. I have no intention of it being anything but a small ceremony, but anyone is welcome to attend if they desire.
It is a pleasure to be your representative, and I will do all that is in my power to live up to it.
to bruce wayne.
Hello. I was told by Miss Wynne-York that you would be worth contacting and are an important part of this city. We haven't met, but I hope we will have a chance to shortly.
to sam merlotte & miles vorkosigan.
Miles, hello again. Mr. Merlotte, I haven't met you yet, but I do hope we will be able to speak as a group about what the necessities for the Import population are. I have been looking into some things - could the emergency caches be extended across other cities as well, for instance?
But I am still much newer to this world than either of you, and I feel it would benefit me to speak to you both.
to major, lucretia, and erik.
Hello. I followed your runs, and considered you all worthy opponents and people who had strong ideas. While I understand that losing such a race is difficult, I would like to extend an invitation to come and speak with me any time that is convenient for you - together or separately. If there are plans that you had that would require the backing of the office of Ambassador, I would be more than willing to hear and consider them.
I would also welcome your input, as all of you have been here longer than I am. We should not shut voices out.
to dio.
I admire your dedication to those who struggle in a world very disposed to humans. I would like to speak to you about the specifics of how that can be accomplished, if you are willing to. Let me know what time would work for you - I am entirely able to make a nighttime appointment work.
to foggy.
Thank you for the cake. Would you like a job?
to senator mitchell hundred
I hope we will speak again about things shortly. Situations seem to be all too eager to become more intense than needed.
to mayor baelish.
It was so kind of you and your assistant to extend your help and information to me. I hope that we will continue to have an amicable working relationship.

[ He's referencing the comments he made about women not being in his own homeworld's politics. Clearly he doesn't extend the same expectations here - quite the opposite, in fact. ]
I quite agree with extending that program. It's a good first step - simple and effective.
private
[ It's more strange to her than it is upsetting, frankly. Though that may change someday. ]
What did it take to implement those emergency caches? You have funds beyond what I have at my disposal, I know, but what were the practical concerns beyond that?

Congratulations, Senator.
though i guess i should call you ambassador now
it's a relief to know that democracy still holds weight, here
is everything there as on fire as it sounds from here?
text. private.
Democracy holds weight, certainly, and I am happy to be in a position to do something again.
I suppose that depends on how it sounds from there, but.
If I consider you hot headed, you're still much more level headed than most of my family.

That said, she switches to private to respond to the message. ]
Of course I'm willing to speak with you, and with the other candidates if that's agreeable to them.

[ And the switch to private, swiftly, but she remains earnest and sincere. ]
Ideally I would like to speak to some of you as a group, but I hope to speak to all of you one way or another. You had ideas that I think deserve to be heard and thought of despite your loss. Thank you for being willing to.

So I would like to hire you as -- not my assistant, but I suppose. My counselor? I'm not sure what the titles are considered here.

[Although, he may not have voted at all if not for Dooku's influence. He wasn't attached to another candidate personally, he just wouldn't have voted for her regardless, thinking she was part of a Republic he has been told was corrupt - and that that influence is not needed here.]
I am your representative now though, whether you voted for me or not, so if there is something you require aid with as an Import, I hope you will not hesitate to let me know. We have our differences, but they do not influence my responsibilities as Ambassador.

I had meant to reach out to you once you've settled into the position to inquire about the proposal for social benefits for unregistered minors. While we have sufficient funds and volunteers to initialize the program, we have concerns over the reliability of the Porter, especially as of late. We thought it would be better to involve a legacy title such as Ambassador instead, so that in the case you and I are ported out, your successor could still carry the program forward.
private
This is a proposal I had not heard of before, but I would be more than willing to listen to what you have planned.
Let me know when would be convenient for you to meet, and I will go over the information and make a decision. It seems from the surface of it a worthy goal, though.

I realize that you are probably very busy getting settled and making sure that everything is in order, but I would like to meet you in person soon, if you can find the time. I have some concerns that you may be able to help me with.

I remember, yes.
While the initial time is certainly filled with many things, I am always able to set aside time for those who need it. When would suit you best? At the moment, while I am arranging meetings many of them are still in flux. Earlier would perhaps be almost easier than later.

Congratulations. As I said before, I'm always open to discussion and assisting your office in any way I can. My skills are probably more useful when used behind the scenes anyway.

I'm not sure yet how much I can offer you in the ways of resources, but I do not think this corruption can be allowed to continue as it stands, or there is no hope of changing the city.
Perhaps you would be willing to assist me in attempting to clear it?

My name is Galla, and I would like to add to the many congratulations you have received already. I am a quite recent arrival, but what I was able to read of your political stance I approved of. I am glad to see that my vote was well placed.
I would also like to extend an offer of assistance to you, should you find yourself wishing for any. Although I have much to learn of this world and of our fellow imPorts, I have quite a lot of experience in reaching past suspicion and bias to establish new alliances. I've also been assigned a multicultural activities position which I believe would be very useful in beginning to bridge some of the gaps in understanding that you and many of us are concerned about.
Of course I will understand if you have your own plans and resources to make use of, particularly when I am so new myself, but I felt it would be neglectful of me not to at least make the offer.
no subject
I am still fairly new myself, frankly, but we are all new here in comparison to those who have lived all their lives here. That does not mean we cannot have valuable insights into the situation.
And thank you for the vote -- it is appreciated, and I'm glad I was able to communicate what I hope to achieve.
The offer is extremely appreciated, and I hope to be able to take you up on it. May I ask what your position is? It is one of my greatest hopes to be able to bridge the boundaries that have fallen between Import and Native populations.
It is a pleasure to meet you, Galla.

But yes. I would be willing to meet with you and discuss some things. Any time after 10pm would be preferred, really, or before 5am, if you'd rather wake up early. Otherwise, my schedule is fairly free, and what isn't can be shifted around.
private; voice
I don't wish to impose on the first of your time of day. Perhaps sometime in the early morning, then? Between 3 and 4 am would not be difficult for me to be available for. What day would work best for you?

And a trip to DC sounds like something I'd be more than happy to take you up on. Perhaps in a few weeks, when it will look less like I'm immediately abandoning the city to jaunt off somewhere else.
I hope to speak to the other Ambassadors and coordinate our efforts, and yourself and Mayor Baelish will certainly continue to be part of that conversation, I hope.

Thank you, Boyle. I'm happy too. And I know that I can count on you to continue to work to stop the criminal elements that so many have struggled with here.
If we all do our job, Maurtia Falls can only become a safer and better place.

One, this is so cool!
Two, I feel super swank living with an Ambassador.
Three, does this mean I need to move out? Or are we cool?
Four, are we going to need like, a security detail at the house? Are you gonna get body guards? Can I be the Kevin Costner to your Whitney Houston except completely platonic and without the romance because we're both in relationships?
[private video]
Of course you don't have to move! I don't think I'm going to require any kind of security detail - even if I technically did, I have quite a few Force users who keep an eye on my well being at this point. It would be very foolish to take an attempt on my life.
We're always "cool", Major. I probably won't be home a great deal, for the time being -- settling into the new job and all of that, but at some point I'll have to have a celebratory drink with you.
