I was here before. I don't remember it. I've gone through my network presence, but that's limited information. [ he's also beginning to slowly gather information from people like kay and poe, but well-- ] Apologies to those that knew me.

[ admittedly, even putting himself out on the network like this is enough to trigger his well-developed paranoia, but he has to start somewhere if he intends to get.. better. ]

Additionally, a question for those who've been in active, sustained conflict; in particular, those deployed multiple times into warzones. Do you have tips for living a civilian life? Things that have worked for you to help you adjust, books that are worth a read on the subject, even problems you've had to deal with.

welcome back, me and Jarrus are gonna steal your timeline project

and I dunno

but my advice is, don't slide right into civilian life right off the bat, there's always something happening on this mudball

A lot of the basic environmental systems in the government habs make suspicious noises. I'd recommend staying up at least once and figure out what noises are normal.

Depending on where you were deployed, I'd also recommend getting someone trustworthy to do at least one circuit of the streets you're going to be frequenting.

And take a chance to train with whatever powers you've got now. Figuring out how to restrain them will help for the times when you get jumpy.

What kind of warzones were you deployed to?

[ oh, it's a vet, looking for help.

That's cool of him. Cool that people are helping too. Laura should know that the best thing here would be to scroll on by. he's looking for help in a good way and she isn't needed here.

but Laura got sad, and Laura got drunk, so here's someone else.
]

are you dead?
Physically or otherwise.
Yknow

Weeeeelll, I wasn't in military service in my world, but I grew up in a constant warzone...

Understood. I can't share details of mine either, but they were mostly urban deployments.

If any of yours were, be aware there's days when civvies put out garbage for collection. Lots of suspicious boxes and piles of junk on the street. Looks like camouflage for IEDs or traps, but they're harmless. Finding out what day of the week your area does garbage collection is definitely worth it. Helps cut down on stress.

And the weeks here are seven days long. I didn't realize that at first, so it caused problems.

I try to. Especially for exercise. Having some structure helps keep things stable.

[Having free time is an uncomfortable thing. It gives him too much time to think.]

[He's back. And he doesn't remember being here earlier. At least that means she won't be expected to know him the way she's had to with her friends the first time she was here. But to her surprise, she's happier to see him than she expected she'd ever be.]

Cassian. You're back!

What is the last thing you remember? Do you remember Scarif?

[The attached name seems vaguely familiar to Sinjir, although not from any previous network presence here, not having been in this place all that long himself. So, someone from back in the Galaxy, he thinks, 'warzone' reinforcing that supposition.]

1. Avoid getting involved in this world's conflicts.
2. Develop a taste for alcohol.
3. Repeat #2 as needed.

Surely your partner can appreciate that your needs are important too.

Not sure yet myself. Mostly I just try to stay busy. Seems to be going okay.

It's not totally peaceful here, so losing all your instincts wouldn't be a good idea.

Not long. Twenty-nine days. Some details just get picked up faster than others.

Some have been here for a few years, but I'm not sure they have relevant backgrounds to answer your questions. Lots of civilians.

We had a day repeat for a week while we tried to divert a missile. That kept me busy. You can get involved in more military or peacekeeping action here if you want, but I got some good advice to do something totally different, too. I'm going to try to use my new ability to help people. Spend time looking at nature. Trying new foods. Wondering when my vacation will be over.

If ever. What I mean is, don't try too hard.
pickledturncoat: (is that right)

Well, that's tedious. Don't tell him? For his own peace of mind of course.

I'm not. Just trained to pick up on certain things.

[He's become even more aware of that in the past week.]

It is. They make a lot of assumptions that don't make sense. Were you ever one of them before deployment? [The messages all have a name on them so he doubts he's talking to another clone, but it doesn't hurt to check.]

Not well, but enough. It's hard when you know no one's on duty while you're trying to sleep.

[And the nightmares make it worse, but that doesn't need to be said.]
