[Oh, yes. Ed is quite evidently still pissed off to high hell over that. Winry is not a fighter and should never be involved in them. Ed's tried to make it a point to keep her out of the front lines back home, as it were. So she never has to see him fighting. But that was unavoidable with the arena mess. At least he didn't get hurt too badly, all things considered. It could be worse.]

Anyway, I had something I wanted to ask, Major. Not....about dinner. About the job thing. They won't let me sign anything because I'm a minor, apparently. I was wondering if you were still willing to help set this up? Maybe they'll let you sign since they're being stubborn about letting me just do it myself.

[Which is ridiculous when he is so used to being treated more like an adult with his status back home and how different things were in general back home with that particular time at 1914, but still. He's working on this. Slowly.]

Also, might have neglected to mention, but Al and I moved in with Winry, so we're at Residence #35 now instead. I know I've offered to help one or two of you with my alchemy, so that's where I am, if anyone needs anything fixed or made, I can see what I can do. Working on setting up a proper shop for it, but....it's a work in progress.

[A shake of his head.] Nah. My leg is fine. It was my arm she seemed more worried about but I think she's done checking it over and everything. Surprised it didn't get more beat up in all of that, really. Winry's healing came in handy once we got back too. She got pretty beat up at one point.

[And by the tone of his voice he's feeling terrible and furious about it. That may or may not be the sound of his fist smacking against the wall next to him.]

[Ed grits his teeth, pursing his lips.] I wouldn't freak out if they didn't involve Winry in that. The last place she needs to be is the battlefield. She's not a fighter. I am. She doesn't belong anywhere near fighting.

[Winry stays home as his support. To help when he returns. That's her job. Not being in the thick of it like she was at the arena mess.]

She should learn how to fight. It'd be good for her.

Maybe. I'm not saying its a bad idea, for her to learn to defend herself. Just--she isn't meant to be hurting anyone. She's meant to help heal people.

She can do that and still fight when necessary. [ i mean, look at noi, she healed your leg, edward. And she is a muscle woman, too ]

Winry helps in plenty of other ways besides fighting. That's where I come in. Because Al and I actually know how to fight. And I don't imagine something like that will happen again, so I'll be there next time to look out for her so that she doesn't have to fight.

[He stands by Winry's hands being meant to heal, not harm. Not hurt or kill.]

Shouldn't you be asking her what she wants to do? if she wants to fight or not, to learn or not, it's something you can't decide for her.

Maybe I should. It's just--it's always been me that's fought. And Al. Not her. I guess I can't stop her if she wants to learn, it's just.....

[That would basically be admitting he can't always be there to keep her safe himself. Which, yes the arenas proved it, but Ed is still hesitant. Afraid, after the memory of her pulling a gun at Scar back home.]
