[Oh, yes. Ed is quite evidently still pissed off to high hell over that. Winry is not a fighter and should never be involved in them. Ed's tried to make it a point to keep her out of the front lines back home, as it were. So she never has to see him fighting. But that was unavoidable with the arena mess. At least he didn't get hurt too badly, all things considered. It could be worse.]

Anyway, I had something I wanted to ask, Major. Not....about dinner. About the job thing. They won't let me sign anything because I'm a minor, apparently. I was wondering if you were still willing to help set this up? Maybe they'll let you sign since they're being stubborn about letting me just do it myself.

[Which is ridiculous when he is so used to being treated more like an adult with his status back home and how different things were in general back home with that particular time at 1914, but still. He's working on this. Slowly.]

Also, might have neglected to mention, but Al and I moved in with Winry, so we're at Residence #35 now instead. I know I've offered to help one or two of you with my alchemy, so that's where I am, if anyone needs anything fixed or made, I can see what I can do. Working on setting up a proper shop for it, but....it's a work in progress.

Wasn't exactly fun, no. I'm fine. More pissed off that they dragged Winry and the civilians into it. People that have no idea on fighting or defending themselves. Some without any powers to help in that sort of situation. People died. And then they were just brought back like it was nothing, like it never happened.....

[Which is. Well, impossible back home. Even with alchemy. Ed tried, knows this first hand.]

Journalist? Well, okay. Though I doubt I can tell you anything somebody else hasn't. How do you think anyone that was involved in that arena mess feels? I'm pissed off!

Mind telling me what happened to you in the arena? If you fought a bear, if you had to protect a friend, things like that.

Well, I couldn't just let the civilians get slaughtered. I helped try keep them safe. And Winry. There were a couple of robot things. And the bears, though the wolf helped there. And the drop bears.....or whatever the fuck those things were.

[Yeah. He had a busy time when he was in the arenas, to say the least.]

Smaller ones? Yeah. Never seen anything like those before, but....we managed.

So a wolf teamed up with you to help attack drop bears. I've got to say, this whole thing sounds more and more [ ridiculous ] horrible the more I talk to you.

Did you and Winry make it out alright?

Yeah. I don't really know what the fuck was going on either. I don't even know if those bears are a real animal or if these guys just...made them somehow.

But uh, yeah. We both made it. We're fine, all things considered.

I'd had enough of camping after months traveling around as a fugitive with Greed, Donkey Kong and Lion King back home. The only reason I went is because Winry wanted to go and Al all but pushed me out to the bus. Nobody expected to be kidnapped and forced to fight.

...wait, Donkey Kong and Lion King?

Yeah. Couple of.....er, friends back home. Not their actual names, obviously.

Anyway, what did you do when help finally arrived?

Tried to help get everyone the fuck out of there. Well, as best as I could, given my own injuries by that point. Even with the rescue it was kind of crazy. I guess at least those that died, the imPorts are....okay now. Just glad it's over now, really.

How exactly were you injured?

Ah, just minor stuff. Some bites and grazes, mostly. Few bruises from things landing on top of me or throwing me off of them. Nothing too serious.

[Especially when compared with previous injuries of his. Losing an arm and leg, being impaled when he fell down in the mines near Briggs.]

Well, that's reassuring. After all, it could be much worse.

Yeah. I've been hurt worse than this. Just....it shouldn't have happened in the first place. At all. To any of us.

We can say things like 'it shouldn't have happened' until the cows come home, but that doesn't change the fact that it did happen.

I know that! I just....want to pummel whoever it was. Make sure it doesn't happen again.

I'll be first in line. They got Winry involved and she has no place to be fighting like that. I've tried hard to stop her seeing me fight like that and getting involved back home as it is. And I could only help when we did happen to be in the same arena.

She's lucky to have a boyfriend like you.

[Or at least, thus far. Winry might have admitted it to herself on her feelings but Ed's been so preoccupied with his promise to Al and saving Amestris to find time for such things. Yet.]
