[Oh, yes. Ed is quite evidently still pissed off to high hell over that. Winry is not a fighter and should never be involved in them. Ed's tried to make it a point to keep her out of the front lines back home, as it were. So she never has to see him fighting. But that was unavoidable with the arena mess. At least he didn't get hurt too badly, all things considered. It could be worse.]

Anyway, I had something I wanted to ask, Major. Not....about dinner. About the job thing. They won't let me sign anything because I'm a minor, apparently. I was wondering if you were still willing to help set this up? Maybe they'll let you sign since they're being stubborn about letting me just do it myself.

[Which is ridiculous when he is so used to being treated more like an adult with his status back home and how different things were in general back home with that particular time at 1914, but still. He's working on this. Slowly.]

Also, might have neglected to mention, but Al and I moved in with Winry, so we're at Residence #35 now instead. I know I've offered to help one or two of you with my alchemy, so that's where I am, if anyone needs anything fixed or made, I can see what I can do. Working on setting up a proper shop for it, but....it's a work in progress.

I think so. Though that depends on when they are pulled in by the Porter. Sometimes they might be pulled just before dying, for example. Or way before that point where they pass away.

So they say. Be better to pull in people experienced with playing hero and using powers. But I dunno if they even have control with the Porter over who it brings or when it pulls you from.

Well, alchemy isn't a 'power' back home. It's a science. But apparently here my alchemy counts as my 'power' so....I'm just glad I can still use it here.

...so..what kind of science is alchemy?

It's chemistry, basically. The science of understanding matter, breaking the materials down and then reconstructing them to something else. One example could be taking dynamite and using the ammonia in it to mess with people's sense of smell. Or using alchemy to fix something, so long as you have all the pieces.

There's ammonia in dynamite? ... um... [ What's ammonia? Okay nevermind, moving on. ]

So ... like if you broke a glass you could fix it, good as new?

There is, yeah. I've picked up all kinds of stuff through researching with alchemy. You know, that disgusting clean smell with hospitals and stuff? That's usually ammonia.

[Prodigy that Ed is, as much as he is a brat. He does know his stuff with regards to his focus and profession.]

Yup. Exactly. I can fix anything provided the pieces are all there.

I've never been to a hospital.. I think.

[ She doesn't remember being sick enough be in a hospital - or visit someone in a hospital. She is however, quite impressed that he knows so much! ]

No? You're lucky then. I've been to the hospital and needed repairs more time than I could count.

[Then again. He's pretty stupidly reckless a lot of the time so that is hardly surprising in Ed's case. Near constantly breaking his arm somehow or other.]
