Getting a variety of opinions is a good idea, certainly. Though I think you'll find the variety here is -- rather wide.

I suppose one would have to start with your definition of a real person.

I'd never realized just how tough that is to answer until today. Little embarrassing.

It's the thing I mean when I say "someone." "An individual." I don't even know if consciousness or free will are the right words.

It is better to have realized that it is a difficult question to answer than to have had an immediate glib response.

I'm not saying they don't apply, exactly. Just that it seems too easy. Too many possible exceptions.
