[Karolina's face appears on screen. She's smiling a little, but not as much as is her first instinct. She can't sell that level of cheerfulness these days] Hi guys. I already met some of you, but I haven't done one of these yet, so, to make it official: I'm Karolina Dean. My assignment thing says that I'm supposed to be a student. Which I'm good with.

But if we're supposed to be studying, it seems like a waste to only use the resources that come from this place. There's people here from a thousand different places, and I think that learning about all of them is the best study opportunity we have.
[Okay, she might have oversold that. It felt like too much as soon as it came out, but she's a little rusty when it comes to public speaking.

She figures she'll just skip to the questions] Anyway, it'd be great if you guys could share some stuff.

So, today what I'm wondering about is, well, faith. Whatever that means to you. Whether it's the faith you have in people, or the faith you have in yourself, or in something larger than yourself.

Um. [She half-scoffs, half-laughs with a shake of her head] That sounds like an essay question. But, it's something that's important to me. If anybody's willing, I really do wanna talk about it. [She pauses, a troubled look on her face, then forces a smile on and stops recording.]

Yeah, I guess.

Not that I'm totally sure what building character means either.

It is sort of like... [ How does she put it? ] Improving on aspects of yourself? Aspects that will further help you stand stronger and taller in life.

[shesalittle]

Yeah, but what's a good aspect? And what's an improvement?

Like, with let's say trust [To use a random example that is definitely not at all the specific thing on her mind]. Is it better to work on trusting more people?

[girlybruiser]

I believe it is.

[ She says so resolutely. Something she fully believes in. ]

Being alone is... difficult. Overcoming obstacles on your own can be even more so. When you learn to trust others, you begin to realize things are not as difficult as they once were.

Maybe easier in general, but I wouldn't say it helps when the difficult thing is betrayal.

[girlybruiser]

Betrayal?

[shesalittle]

Yeah, I mean, you can't exactly go up to somebody and ask them to help you deal with how much they hurt you.

At least, not always.

[girlybruiser]

... ah.

[ Of course. ]

Is it a betrayal that cannot be forgiven?

[shesalittle]

I... that's a hard question for anyone in that kind of situation, I think. The people you trust and you love, you want to think that they must have had good reasons for what they did. But that hardly means they did.

[girlybruiser]

I believe I can understand your feelings to some degree.

[ She's been betrayed as well, although they all saw it coming a mile away.

The harder part is that she had to pretend everything was normal while a murderer was conned into joining her friends. ]

Do you think there is any room in your heart for forgiveness someday?

[shesalittle]

I... hope not. There shouldn't be.

I could see myself forgiving some of them. But if I did, I'd never forgive myself. [Waxing philosophical is a defense mechanism she falls back on occasionally, but in this case what she says is plenty true.]

[girlybruiser]

Ah... a dilemma.

[ She understands entirely. ]

I don't believe anyone is owed forgiveness necessarily, but sometimes you can learn to live alongside them despite it.
