Have you ever fallen in love? Have you ever been punched very hard in the face, or perhaps attacked by a pack of starving wolves? For those of you who've done both, would you say the experiences were at all comparable?

my experience with love has been rather gentle. I know it hurts, but it's a different kind of hurt.

There are plenty of worthwhile reasons to take a punch to the face, I'd say. Or even to take on an entire wolf pack.

Principles, for one thing. For another, wolves make terrible neighbors.

I think wolves always get such a bad reputation. They can't be that bad.

I suppose they're only doing what they're meant to do. No more or less malicious than anything else in nature.

Plus, I think they'd rather hunt easier prey than humans.

Oh, but humans are terribly easy prey. Slow, ungainly, almost embarrassingly poor senses...

Except they have weapons. Deadly ones.

Certainly not all.

[ghoulking]

If they had wolves as neighbors, certainly they'd remember to arm themselves.

Far easier said than done, to arm oneself properly against cunning hunters. And what of the young and old and sick, or those who simply never learned to defend themselves?

They aren't that cunning. In fact, animals are easy to understand.

Much more than people.
