[On comes the video feed, and the man on the other end seems to consider the screen with distaste for a moment; the pause is long enough to wonder if he's simply going to change his mind and turn it off, but then he speaks. It's a low tone, something that almost sounds like it shouldn't belong to a human, but what is more noticeable is the fact that it is practically dripping with the repugnance of... something. His situation? His audience? All of the above? Red eyes flash with visible impatience as he addresses the network.]

I have been viewing this "network" for several days, watching mortal refugees from other worlds exchange words, images, ideas. Some have accepted and assimilated into their new situation, while others remain resistant and opposed to this place and what they expect of us.

[His lips threaten to curl into a mirthless grin.]

Zahdnu. It is pointless. Do you not see how petty it is? Caught in someone else's conflict, whether you fight or remain ambivalent, it all meets the same end; in time, it will be all be forgotten. All of you will be forgotten. Do you think you will be remembered in a hundred years time, do you think this war they want us to fight will be anything more than a footnote in the history of a thousand years? Five thousand? You should be lucky if your civilizations do not crumble to the ground well before then.

Everything here is noise with no meaning. That I should have to suffer through it is an insult. In defeat, I would have preferred a nothingness, and not forced to live with those whose bodies will decay into dust with time. No dovah, no dragon, deserves such humiliation.

[Well, how's that for a first "hello"? That being said, he simply moves on, as if everything he just declared is not up for debate.]

Those here who considers themselves immortal, a god, or anything more than the majority of those who live in this world -- especially those who find themselves weakened -- my name is Alduin, the World Eater, and I would speak with you.

I have learned that there was a dragon here before.

I do not know. I only know that this dovah attacked the city and was defeated by those who would call themselves heroes.

Whether or not they were of my world remains to be seen.

Well, of course they'd be heroes, right? They wrote the history after they won.

[He gives a sound much like a "bah".] How eagerly the title of "heroes" is tossed about, when some hardly deserve such praise. Most heroes I have known have been little more than stubborn annoyances.

[rassera]

Guess it kinda depends on your point of view.

I mean...everyone's gonna think their side's the heroes, aren't they?


And that's what they write down.

[Alduin never bothered to think of anyone's side other than his own. And so he has hardly a comment for that. But:]

And have you experience with those who would call themselves heroes? Beyond what this world forces upon us.

Well...America sure thinks they are. All the time.

[worldeater]

[Alduin, well, he knows nothing about this place.]

I know nothing of this nation, with the exception that they are more than eager to have us fight their war. [Speaking of nations:] You said you were from another place. A... Japan?

[rassera]

Yeah, that's pretty much the most normal thing about this place. America loves to parade around their stupid ass opinions and go to war.

[At least, that's what his minimal attention span to history picked up.]

Yeah, Neo Tokyo, Japan. About an ocean away from here, or something.

[worldeater]

Is that not what all nations do? [He says this with a smirk, however; it's hypothetical at best.]

It is unlike this place? [That, however, is a legitimate question about Japan.]

[rassera]

Depends on how many wars they win.

[A pause.]

You bet it is, though. Better food where I come from.

[worldeater]

[Oh, food. Alduin's had to eat since his arrival here, otherwise he finds that this body of his doesn't function nearly as well. And it's not like it isn't already a clumsy set-up to begin with.

His lips curl downward.]

I have had some of the food here. It is unusual.

[rassera]

[He feels you, bro. If not for the same reason, but because America itself is weird.]

De Chima's got the best stuff. Ramen, takeout, you name it.


[It doesn't dawn upon him that he's telling a dragon to get takeout ramen. Weird.]

[worldeater]

[Alduin doesn't know what ramen or what takeout is. A true shame.]

Ramen...?

[rassera]

[Oh Alduin...you haven't lived.]

...

Next time we talk, I'm getting you Ramen.

[worldeater]

[He has indeed missed out on the simple joys of life. Such is the burden of being a tyrannical dragon god.]

I was not asking such a favor of you.
