Listen up people of Earth, this is Cayde-6 speaking. First point of order: I have been informed that I'm your new Gun Safety Campaign Spokesman and I am very happy to keep your guns safe. Safe with me because my gun didn't make the trip and I'm feeling so very, very, very naked without it. If anyone can give me a loaner I'll owe ya big time.
Point number two: Just ... think of this as one of those ice-breaking exercises. You know the ones where everybody's awkward and doesn't wanna talk but you gotta answer some stupid question? One of those. Just. Just out of idle curiosity: what is your favorite thing about Earth? It can be anything, doesn't matter how small. In fact, it might be the small things that are the most important. Asking for a friend who isn't used to seeing it so ... intact.
[He counts out his fingers to four, thinks again, and subtracts one.]
Aaand number three: gimme the skinny on good places to eat around Maurita Falls? Extra points for good ramen joints. And I mean the real stuff, none of that instant business.

Man, this takes me back. I remember when I got my "here's the deal with the apocalypse" speech. So. A long time ago, or uh ... some time from now, we discovered The Traveler when it came to Mars. I'd normally be able to just point it out to you in the sky but it's not here yet so imagine the moon but like smaller. And a machine. We thought it might be bad, but it was actually good and did cool stuff like terraform a bunch of planets in the solar system and triple human lifespans and advance a bunch of technology.
What we didn't know is that it had an ancient enemy called The Darkness that was chasing it across the galaxy. And wouldn't you know it, just as humanity is getting ready to set sail into the stars beyond our own system, it swept up on our front door and destroyed everything. Every colony. Every city. Killed damn near everyone, 'cept that at the last moment The Traveler sacrificed itself to save us.
So now most everything's gone and we've got our backs to the walls fighting off every alien faction that's washed in to pick up the scraps.
the notif for this got lost in my spam folder wtf
I would say "on the bright side, you're probably not the only one with an apocalypse here" but that's not really a bright side, is it?
[And by probably he means definitely but he's so far removed from the Mushroom War that it's probably not comparable.]
