Hello, imPorts. Today, I'm here to talk to you about the importance of being a hero.

It's right there, isn't it?

[He claps his hands together to punctuate the word and grins.]

You are important, here, to this world as one of its heroes. Like The Avengers or The Justice League, every one of you has or was given some special skills to make you unique and to make you a hero.

It doesn't matter if you don't believe it now. You will. You were brought here for a purpose and you must all act accordingly. It doesn't matter what you did in your past. What counts is the here and the now and moving forward!

Maybe you're already making great strides to help. Maybe you're new and lost. Either way, you are important and a hero and always keep that in mind. With evey action. With every interview. You are the public face of imPorts; all of you!

Be the best hero that you can be and together we can prevail. We will overcome any threat. Break through any boundary. Foil any nefarious scheme. Believe in yourself, and believe in the people around you.

We will win this fight; whatever fight comes our way. Maybe through negotiations. Maybe through physical force. No matter what your power or skillset, you can use it to your best advantage. Your best power is right up here.

[He taps the side of his head.]

Your mind. Your will. Your belief in yourself and in others.

Keep hold of that and you will succeed.

[He looks pleased, pausing a moment before adding.]

Why is that so important to you?

I was ignored for a long time, Peter. I don't want to sit in some lab, toiling away and just getting overlooked.

Yeah, okay, I follow that part. But if you're doing the work you wanted to do anyway, why does it matter?

The work isn't its own reward. People have to know about it.

[While he loves his work, he does want to show it off... He wants people to know about it; be buzzing with excitement about it; respect it. He thinks he needs to keep putting on a big show to achieve that, not letting the work just speak for itself.]

[ Yeah, Peter doesn't entirely get that. If Beck tied it into money, then Peter would at least understand? He'd been poor before Stark came along, and he's back to being kind of poor now. ]

So get with a tech company that's interested in imPorts. They'd probably love having someone flashy involved.

[It's complicated with him. It's not even something as simple as money or power that he wants. It's recognition.]

I guess I could look into that but it would be more ideal if I could start my own company.

[ Oh. All right, that gets some comprehension. ]

Which takes money, huh.

That's right.

Being an imPort, this pays pretty well. There's an appearance fee along with the speech.

[Very much a celebrity.]

If I keep going with this, the more people will see me and know me and the more crowds I'll draw and the more I'll get paid. Pretty soon I could have enough to fund my own projects, properly and without arguments.

[ There might be the very slightest hint of jealousy there? Guilty, but present. His part time job is minimum wage and he is having to do some hard math vis-à-vis his food bills.

I really hope you manage to do that. Honestly. Your tech could do a lot of good here.

You still have school, right?

So part-time. But yes, I could use your expertise and your knowledge.

[ There are so many reasons not to be tempted by that, and yet ... ]

Well, there'll be time to think about it.

Right, yeah. I'll think about it. If you don't - I don't know, try to do something weird between now and then.

I think I should also be saying that to you, what with your tests of my perception. Who knows what further mischief you may get up to?

[He's teasing a bit.]

[ LOOK. Look. He makes a face. ]

[He holds a hand out, offering to shake on it.]

[ Peter hesitates. Then reaches out to take his hand. ]

[He gives a firm, friendly handshake. Just like the time they first met.]

Good. That's settled.

I'm looking forward to what the future's going to hold for us both here.

[ God, that hurts a little. But he swallows that pain down. ]

Yeah, well. Hope it's good too.

[He sounds confident in that.]

[ Peter is skeptical, but. ]

I'll help. I mean, as much as I can.

I wouldn't expect anything less. I know you'll be a great help.

But no pressure, okay? I don't want you helping out of some obligation. That doesn't get anyone the best results.
